The Dreaming City’s curse is a repeating cycle of Taken corruption tied to Riven’s Last Wish. Blind Well is a destination activity associated with Dreaming City weapon rewards; Shattered Throne is its dungeon, and Last Wish is its raid. Bungie lists both endgame activities as Forsaken Pack content, accessible from the Dreaming City map.
What is the Dreaming City curse cycle?
The curse is part of the Dreaming City story, not simply a weekly activity modifier. Bungie explains that the Guardians’ attempt to save the city inadvertently carried out Riven’s Last Wish, drawing the Dreaming City into a recurring cycle of Taken corruption. Bungie’s May 23, 2024 lore summary says the cycle “remains to this day.”

In the original Forsaken-era design, the curse escalated through stages, with Shattered Throne appearing when the cycle reached its strongest point. In a September 27, 2018 post, Bungie said the curse was then at its most potent and that the dungeon would return at the worst point three weeks later. That was a historical schedule announcement; it does not establish the current weekly timing or stage.
What are Blind Well, Shattered Throne, and Last Wish?
| Activity | Type | How it fits the Dreaming City |
|---|---|---|
| Blind Well | Destination activity | Associated with Dreaming City weapons; Bungie named it as one of several sources for a returning weapon set in a 2023 announcement. |
| Shattered Throne | Dungeon | Reached through the Dreaming City map; included with Forsaken Pack access. |
| Last Wish | Raid | Reached through the Dreaming City map; listed by Bungie among included raid content. |
Bungie’s Season of the Wish announcement identified Tigerspite, Waking Vigil, Sleepless, Vouchsafe, Retold Tale, Twilight Oath, and Abide the Return as Dreaming City weapons obtainable from Blind Well, Shattered Throne, and Ascendant Challenge chests. It also described updated perk pools and the Advanced Reflexes Origin Trait for that season. This announcement does not establish that every listed weapon drops from every named source or describe today’s complete reward pool.
