Not yet—not based on Capcom’s published details. As of October 7, 2026, Capcom says Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will add relics that unlock new abilities or improve existing ones, while a separate free update will broaden the base game’s assignable weapon skills. But Capcom has not published a vocation-by-vocation list confirming that all 10 base-game vocations receive new skills. The paid expansion is scheduled to launch October 9, 2026, so post-launch results are not available here.
What new skills and abilities are confirmed?
The expansion’s official description says players will find and appraise relics to unlock weapons and skills. Capcom France’s September 2, 2026 preview adds that evaluated relic weapons and armor can grant new abilities or improve abilities already available to the Arisen and main Pawn. In other words, the confirmed system includes both new abilities and upgrades to existing ones.

That description does not identify the specific skills, weapons, armor, or vocations involved. It therefore supports the possibility of fresh options for characters, but not a claim that every vocation receives a new skill. Capcom’s June 10 announcement describes the expansion as a paid new story for Dragon’s Dogma 2, originally released in March 2024.
Which vocations get the new skills?
Capcom’s reviewed official preview does not provide a complete list of which of the 10 base-game vocations can use each relic ability. Until that information is published or verified in the released game, it is not possible to say that all 10 vocations are being refreshed, or to compare how much each one changes.

That distinction matters: a relic granting an ability to the Arisen or main Pawn does not, on its own, establish that the ability is available to every vocation. Nor does the announced expansion description establish a vocation balance change.
What is free, and what requires the expansion?
Capcom describes two separate changes. The free base-game update broadens the choice of weapon skills players can assign. The expansion’s relic progression, new story, and related content belong to the paid add-on. The preview does not specify which individual skills are part of the free update and which are exclusive to the expansion.

The expansion is scheduled for October 9, 2026. Its details and availability may differ by platform or region. The US PlayStation Store listing showed a $29.99 pre-order price when accessed on October 7, 2026; check the listing for the current price before buying.
Does Dark Arisen require Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Yes. The US PlayStation Store listing states that the expansion cannot be used without Dragon’s Dogma 2. Buying the expansion is not the same as buying the base game, so players who do not own the game should check whether a combined package is available on their platform and in their region.

Where is the expansion coming out?
Capcom announced Dark Arisen for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Its announcement says the Switch 2 package combines the base game and expansion; Capcom France also describes a combined package on the other announced platforms. Store listings are the best place to confirm local availability, package contents, and prices.
Capcom reported more than 14 million units sold for the Dragon’s Dogma series cumulatively as of March 31, 2026. That is a series-wide figure, not sales for Dragon’s Dogma 2 alone, and does not indicate how the new skills will affect any vocation.

What players can reasonably expect
The announcements point to two potential sources of change: a free update that expands weapon-skill assignment and paid relic progression that can add or improve abilities. Whether those changes make every vocation feel fresh depends on the unannounced skill distribution and how the abilities work in play. Capcom’s published preview does not settle either question, and the scheduled release date is still ahead as of October 7, 2026.
