VN Video Editor has native desktop apps for Windows and macOS. Windows users can download VN for PC from VN’s official website without an Android emulator; Mac users can install VN: Video Editor from the Mac App Store.
This guide covers the official download paths, system requirements, desktop features, project transfers, and limitations to know before moving a VN workflow from mobile to a computer.

Use VN’s official download page rather than third-party software repositories or unofficial “PC versions.” The page at vlognow.me/download currently provides these options:

The Windows button opens VN’s official Windows download route at /download/pc/, which redirects to the current Windows package endpoint. It is a native Windows installer, not an Android app running through an emulator.

How to download VN for Windows
- Open the official VN download page.
- Select Windows Download Now.
- Follow the link through VN’s official Windows download route.
- Run the downloaded installer.
- Complete the installation using the prompts shown by the current installer.
VN’s public documentation does not specify the exact labels used by every step of the Windows installer. Instructions that insist the current installer uses particular buttons such as “Next,” “Install,” or “Finish” may not match the version you download.
Windows system requirement
VN’s official VN for PC page states that the desktop edition requires Windows 10 or later. VN does not currently publish separate minimum requirements for RAM, processor, graphics hardware, storage, or Windows architecture on that page. Avoid treating unofficial hardware lists as VN’s official requirements.

How to download VN for Mac
- Open the official VN download page.
- Select Mac App Store.
- On the App Store listing titled VN: Video Editor, install the app through the Mac App Store.

Check the listing at the official Mac App Store page. It advertises export up to 4K at 60 frames per second and describes Dolby Vision HDR editing and export. Those are upper capabilities, not a guarantee that every source file, project, or Mac can use every setting.

VN does not state that every feature in the mobile apps is identical on Windows. The desktop and mobile editions can have different interfaces, version histories, and feature availability.

Recent changes in the Mac app
The Mac App Store version history lists several desktop-specific updates:
- Version 1.2.0: SRT subtitle importing, FPS tick marks on the timeline ruler, timeline zoom up to 30×, faster media dragging and importing, improved audio waveform display, and a fix for accidental new-project creation when media is dragged into an empty timeline area.
- Version 1.1.0: Pro Mode, frame interpolation, improved transition behavior, and text-to-speech.
- Version 1.0.0: New voice-effect voices, transitions, audio denoise, and other fixes.
The Mac listing also notes that some voice effects require macOS Sequoia or later. Installing VN on macOS 13 or newer does not necessarily make every voice effect available.

How to move a VN project from mobile to PC or Mac
Signing in to a VN account does not automatically synchronize drafts between devices. VN says projects are automatically saved on the current device, but account login does not provide automatic cloud backup or synchronization.
To move an editable project, create and transfer a project file:
- On the source device, locate the project.
- Select the […] button beside the project.
- Select Share Project.
- Choose Full if the destination device needs all project media.
- Leave Read-only disabled if the recipient must edit or export the project.
- Select Share and transfer the resulting project file to the destination device.
- Open the file on the destination device with VN.
- Enter a password if VN requests one.
- Select Open Project.
Full includes all media. Simple includes only selected footage, so it is not the right choice when you want to transfer a complete editable project. The project file should be saved somewhere secure before uninstalling VN or changing devices.
Why a transferred project may not work

VN’s current help documentation states that users without VN Pro can use Project Sharing once per day. That restriction can affect repeated transfer attempts on free accounts.
Choosing export settings
Match the export resolution to the source video where possible. Exporting a low-resolution clip at a higher resolution does not recreate detail that was never captured.
The same principle applies to frame rate. VN recommends matching the export FPS to the source FPS. Increasing the frame rate of a low-FPS clip does not automatically make it genuinely smoother. The Mac listing’s “up to 4K at 60 fps” statement describes a maximum advertised capability; the practical result depends on the source media, project settings, and computer hardware.

Do you still need an Android emulator?
No. VN offers an official native Windows desktop edition that can be downloaded through the Windows Download Now button on VN’s website. BlueStacks and similar emulators can run the Android edition, but they are not required to install the official Windows version.
An emulator may also produce a different interface and workflow from VN for PC. If you are using Windows 10 or later, the official desktop installer is the more direct option.

VN is promoted as a free video editor and is known for exporting without a watermark, but “free” does not mean that every feature or purchase option is absent. The Mac App Store listing includes in-app purchases, including VN Pro and credits. Check the listing and the in-app purchase screen for current details before paying for optional features.
Download VN Video Editor: the short version

Does VN Video Editor have an official Windows version?
Yes. VN for PC is an official native Windows desktop edition. It requires Windows 10 or later and is downloaded through the Windows Download Now button on VN’s official website.
Do I need BlueStacks to install VN on Windows?
