To download a Hudl Classic Library video, a coach or team administrator should sign in, open Library > Manage, select the video, choose Download and a file type, then retrieve the file from Hudl’s email. Athletes cannot use this documented Classic Library download workflow and should ask their coach. A finished premium highlight is different: Hudl says its MP4 file must be purchased.

These instructions apply to video in Hudl Classic Library, not every Hudl product. Hudl’s Classic Library download guide describes the workflow for coaches and team administrators.

Sign in to Hudl.com, hover over Library, and choose Manage.

Select the video you want. Hudl says you can select up to 100 videos at a time; use Shift-click to select multiple playlists.

Windows PC: Open the ZIP file in your My Downloads folder and choose Extract or Extract All. Move the extracted video to the folder where you want to keep it.

What athletes can download
For the specific Classic Library workflow above, Hudl states that only team admins and coaches can download video; athletes are not able to download it. If you are an athlete and do not see the download option, ask your head coach to download the film or clarify what your team permits. This restriction describes Hudl’s Classic Library guidance; access may differ in other Hudl products.
Download a finished highlight as an MP4
A finished premium highlight is not the same as a game or practice video in Classic Library. Hudl’s premium highlights guidance says you must purchase the highlight to obtain it in MP4 format.

If you are preparing a reel, Hudl says clips must be sent to Highlights before a reel can be created. In Hudl Classic, a playlist uploaded as practice or scout film may need to be downloaded and re-uploaded as game film before the star/highlight option appears. Hudl also says you cannot upload your own music to highlights because of copyright laws.
Share a clip without saving a local file
If your goal is to show a clip rather than keep a copy on your device, Hudl offers platform sharing options. Its athlete guide describes sharing highlight reels outside Hudl with embed links. The game and practice film guide describes downloading selected clips to create shareable links and publishing highlights directly to a team page.
Troubleshoot a missing option or download

No Download button: Check your account role. For the Classic Library workflow, athletes should ask the head coach to download the video.

Keep permissions in mind
Hudl’s terms make access and downloads subject to user roles and permitted use. They distinguish user-created highlights from underlying game film that belongs to the customer, and state that athletes may not export a customer’s full game recording. Follow your team’s permissions and Hudl’s current terms; do not try to bypass download controls or extract a stream with third-party tools.
Keep a copy somewhere you control
For a local backup, save the downloaded video to your computer or another storage location. Hudl names an external hard drive as one option, but it is not required. Hudl also says a downloaded raw video link can be forwarded to someone outside Hudl.
