Yes, YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams, including a 24/7 stream of your own older videos. But YouTube does not publish a categorical ruling that an unchanged loop of a creator’s archive automatically passes or fails review. Having made the videos is relevant to reused-content concerns; it does not settle the separate question of whether a continuous, repetitive presentation offers enough distinct value to viewers.
How the policies apply to a continuous archive stream
YouTube says its channel-monetization policies cover Shorts, long-form videos, and live streaming. Its guidance distinguishes two concerns that can matter to an archive stream:
- Reused content: repurposing material already on YouTube or elsewhere without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. YouTube’s examples focus on whether viewers can tell there is a meaningful difference.
- Inauthentic content: repetitive or mass-produced material that does not provide distinct creative, educational, or other value. Reviewers can assess the channel as a whole, not just an individual stream.
YouTube updated its policy page on July 15, 2025, renaming “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content.” YouTube described the update as clarifying the existing rule and said it did not change the reused-content policy. YouTube channel monetization policies

Does using your own videos make the stream safe?
No automatic exemption is established. If you made the source videos, the classic reused-content concern is less direct than when a channel republishes someone else’s work without meaningful contribution. But authorship alone does not show that a 24/7 loop gives viewers a distinct experience or that the channel meets YouTube’s originality and authenticity expectations.

Nor does YouTube say that every replay of a creator’s own work is automatically disallowed. Its public guidance does not specify a minimum amount of new commentary, a percentage of new footage, a required rotation schedule, or another numeric threshold that guarantees approval. The outcome for a particular channel remains a channel-specific review decision.

Think about how the continuous stream fits the channel’s overall presentation, not just whether each source video is yours. You can make authorship and the stream’s purpose clear in your channel and video presentation, but doing so is practical guidance, not a promise of approval. YouTube’s examples allow for a shared format when the videos have materially different substance and provide value; template-like material with little variation or value can raise the separate inauthentic-content concern. Monetization review and copyright clearance are separate
A stream might raise a monetization-policy issue even when you have permission to use its material. Conversely, a monetization review does not establish that every image, clip, or sound is cleared for use. YouTube says reused-content compliance is not determined by permission, copyright, or fair use. Its livestream terms separately require creators to have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services, including applicable music rights, and apply to live content and its archive. Before rebroadcasting your archive, check whether rights in each video’s embedded material cover this use. In particular, consider music, stock footage, guest appearances, and licenses limited by platform or duration. Having uploaded a video yourself does not necessarily mean every third-party element in it is cleared for a new live broadcast and its archive.
How to assess your channel before running the stream
- Establish your role in the videos. Confirm that you created them or can clearly establish your contribution. That context matters, but is not a guarantee of monetization.
- Assess the viewer experience. Ask whether the continuous stream has a clear, distinct purpose and value, or mainly presents substantially identical material on repeat. YouTube publishes no guaranteed format or numeric threshold for this scenario.
- Consider the channel-wide effect. Review how the stream fits the channel’s theme, recent and popular uploads, and watch-time mix—the kinds of context YouTube says reviewers may consider.
- Recheck rights for live and archived use. Verify music and other third-party elements for the stream and the resulting archive, rather than relying only on the fact that the original upload was yours.
- Use current, account-specific guidance if YPP eligibility is at stake. YouTube can review channels and limit access to monetization features when eligibility requirements are not met. A general policy explanation cannot predict the outcome for your channel.
What a policy decision could mean for monetization
YouTube lists advertising, Shopping, YouTube Premium revenue, channel memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and Super Thanks among YPP monetization features. Each feature has its own eligibility requirements. Approval of a livestream format does not, by itself, guarantee eligibility for every feature. How to earn money on YouTube

Keep an archive stream running without leaving a computer on
If you decide to run a 24/7 stream, the operational setup is separate from the monetization decision: a cloud service can keep uploaded videos looping to YouTube while your computer is off. StreamNeo is one option for YouTube streams made from uploaded videos; it does not stream from a camera.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo’s setup does not change YouTube’s monetization or rights review.
