Yes—but only some Apple TV models, and the television box is not enough on its own. Apple says Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) running tvOS 27.2. You also need an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with current software, Siri AI enabled, and a supported language and region. Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) support ordinary Siri, but they are below the published Siri AI generation cutoff.
The short answer: which Apple TV models qualify?
Apple’s current eligibility statement is specific: Siri AI on Apple TV is supported on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), with the feature delivered as a beta in tvOS 27.2. “Later” includes newer 4K generations, including the 4th-generation model announced on October 13, 2026.
That does not mean every Apple TV with a microphone-enabled remote runs Apple Intelligence locally. Apple describes the television feature as Siri AI and requires an eligible companion iPhone or iPad. Apple’s September 2026 Apple Intelligence device list names iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and certain Apple Watch models—not Apple TV as a standalone Apple Intelligence device.

Therefore, seeing a Siri button on your remote or successfully searching for a film by voice does not prove that your Apple TV supports Siri AI. The model generation and the companion-device setup determine eligibility.

Apple Intelligence, Siri AI, and ordinary Siri are different features
Apple Intelligence is the broader system
Apple Intelligence is Apple’s broader set of on-device and cloud-assisted intelligence features. In Apple’s September 2026 device list, compatible hardware includes particular iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and Apple Watch models. Apple TV is not listed there as a self-contained Apple Intelligence platform.
Siri AI is the Apple TV experience
Siri AI is the newer assistant experience Apple is bringing to Apple TV. Apple’s requirement for an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad means that a qualifying television box alone is insufficient. The companion device supplies the required Apple Intelligence and Siri configuration for the Home.
Ordinary Siri predates Siri AI
Ordinary Siri on Apple TV handles voice search and control rather than the newer personal-context experience. Apple documents requests for movies, programmes, apps, music, podcasts, recommendations, profile switching, searches inside compatible apps, and some smart-home actions. Availability and commands vary by country, language, and hardware.

Check every condition below. Missing one can leave you with ordinary Siri even when the Apple TV model is new enough.
- Compatible Apple TV: Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later).
- tvOS version: tvOS 27.2, where Apple lists Siri AI as a beta.
- Eligible companion: an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad belonging to the Home owner.
- Current companion software: Apple says the iPhone or iPad must run the latest software available for it.
- Siri AI enabled: Siri AI must be turned on for the qualifying iPhone or iPad.
- Supported language: the companion device and Siri configuration must use a language Apple supports for the feature.
- Supported location: Apple’s launch availability is limited by country or region and can change as the beta expands.
- Personal context pairing: requests that depend on an individual’s information require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device with Siri AI enabled and a supported language.
These are cumulative requirements. Upgrading the Apple TV without updating the companion device, or enabling Siri AI in an unsupported language, does not satisfy Apple’s published setup.
How to check your Apple TV model and software
Find the hardware generation
- On Apple TV, open Settings.
- Choose General, then About.
- Record the model name and generation shown there. You need Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) for Siri AI; Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) do not meet that cutoff.
If the About screen identifies only an Apple TV 4K without a generation, use the model identifier shown on that screen or on the device packaging to distinguish it before assuming compatibility. Do not infer eligibility from the remote’s Siri button.

Check tvOS
- From Settings, open System.
- Select Software Updates, then Update Software.
- Install the available update and return to the About screen to confirm the tvOS version.
Apple’s stated Siri AI beta requirement is tvOS 27.2. If your Apple TV cannot install that version, it cannot meet this particular requirement.
Check the companion iPhone or iPad
- Install the latest software offered for the eligible iPhone or iPad.
- In Settings, open the Apple Intelligence and Siri controls and verify that Apple Intelligence and Siri AI are enabled.
- Set Siri to a language and region in which Apple lists the Apple TV feature.
- Make sure this device is the one paired for the Home and, when needed, for personal-context requests.
Settings labels can change between software releases. If an Apple Intelligence or Siri AI control is absent, check the model, software version, language, and regional availability before treating the absence as a hardware failure.
Where Siri AI is available at launch
Apple lists English availability at launch in eight markets: the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Apple also cautions that features can vary by region and language. A reader outside these markets, or using a different Siri language, may have a qualifying Apple TV but no Siri AI access yet.
Because this is a beta, availability can change independently of the hardware. Check Apple’s current software and feature-availability information when a rollout date or language is important to your setup; the launch list is not a promise that every language or country will be enabled at the same time.
What ordinary Siri can still do on older Apple TVs
Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) remain useful for voice control even though they fall below the Siri AI cutoff. Apple says ordinary Siri is available on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation and later) in listed markets and languages.

- “Find documentaries about cars.”
- “Search for Coldplay on YouTube.”
Ordinary Siri can also find movies, programmes, apps, music, and podcasts; search within compatible apps; switch profiles; and handle some smart-home requests. Results depend on whether an app supports Apple TV search and on the language, country, and hardware available to you.
The practical distinction is simple: ordinary Siri is a voice interface for supported Apple TV content and controls. Siri AI adds the newer assistant capability, but only when Apple’s model, software, companion-device, language, and region conditions are met.
Do you need a new Apple TV?
If you own Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later)
Do not buy another box solely because Siri AI is new. Apple says these generations are eligible for the beta, so first update to tvOS 27.2 and complete the iPhone or iPad requirements. A failure to see Siri AI may be a software, language, region, or pairing issue rather than a reason to replace the hardware.

If you own Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K (1st generation)
These models support ordinary Siri but are below Apple’s stated Siri AI cutoff. If Siri AI is the deciding feature, you need an Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) and a qualifying companion device. If voice search is sufficient, your existing Apple TV can continue to provide it.
If you are considering the 4th-generation Apple TV 4K
Apple announced Apple TV 4K (4th generation) on October 13, 2026, at a U.S. price of $299. Apple says store availability begins Friday, November 13, 2026. The new model includes Siri AI, but Apple also says the feature is available on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later. That makes the new model an option for a new purchase, not a mandatory upgrade for every existing owner.
The announced price and date are U.S. launch details. They do not establish local pricing, stock, taxes, or retailer availability in other countries, and they should not be treated as recurring promotional figures.

Troubleshooting when Siri AI does not appear
Your model is too old
Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) cannot be made eligible by changing a setting. The published requirement starts at Apple TV 4K (2nd generation).
The Apple TV is not on tvOS 27.2
Install the available software update, then check the version again. If the hardware cannot update to tvOS 27.2, the Siri AI beta requirement is not met.
The companion device is not eligible or current
Confirm that the Home owner’s iPhone or iPad supports Apple Intelligence and is running its latest available software. An ordinary iPhone or iPad with Siri enabled is not automatically an Apple Intelligence-enabled companion.
Siri AI is disabled or the language is unsupported
Verify Apple Intelligence and Siri AI settings on the companion device and choose a supported language. A language change can affect both access and the exact commands Siri understands.
Your location is outside the rollout
Apple’s initial English list covers eight countries. If your country or language is not listed, the feature may not be available yet even when every device is otherwise compatible.

Personal-context requests have an extra condition: Apple requires a paired eligible iPhone or iPad with Siri AI enabled and a supported language. Recheck that pairing rather than assuming the Apple TV’s general Siri search is broken.
You expected a full Apple Intelligence feature set
Siri AI on Apple TV is a beta feature with availability and behavior that can vary by language and region. The presence of the feature does not mean every Apple Intelligence capability available on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac is available on the television.
A practical decision checklist
- Keep your current box: you own Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), can run tvOS 27.2, and have an eligible iPhone or iPad in a supported setup.
- Keep using ordinary Siri: you own Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K (1st generation) and only need voice search, recommendations, app searches, or supported controls.
- Consider a newer purchase: your model is below the 2nd-generation 4K cutoff, you specifically want Siri AI, and you also have—or plan to obtain—the required Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.
- Wait and recheck availability: your hardware qualifies but your country, language, or software release is not yet included in Apple’s rollout.
The key buying question is not simply “Does this Apple TV have Siri?” It is “Does this Apple TV meet Apple’s Siri AI generation requirement, and do I have the supported companion-device setup?”
