Voicemod works with Zoom when Zoom uses Microphone (Voicemod Virtual Audio Device (WDM)) as its microphone. Choose your physical microphone inside Voicemod, keep Voicemod running, and leave Zoom’s speaker output set to the headphones or speakers you want to hear. Voicemod’s Zoom setup guide describes this routing.
How Voicemod and Zoom pass audio
Your physical microphone sends your voice to Voicemod, which provides the processed audio through its virtual microphone. Zoom then uses that virtual device as its microphone input. Zoom’s speaker setting controls playback, so it can remain set to your headphones or other preferred listening device.
Voicemod must remain open while you use Zoom; otherwise, it cannot feed the virtual microphone. Voicemod’s instructions for Zoom and its general setup guide describe this arrangement.
Set up Voicemod for Zoom
- In Voicemod, choose your microphone. Select the physical microphone you intend to speak into as the input, then select your headphones as Voicemod’s output device.
- In Zoom, choose Voicemod as the microphone. Open Zoom’s audio settings and select Microphone (Voicemod Virtual Audio Device (WDM)). Keep Zoom’s speaker output set to the headphones or other playback device you want to use.
- Leave Voicemod open. It needs to be running to supply audio to Zoom’s virtual microphone.
- Check the device and mute settings. If Zoom does not transmit the transformed voice, verify the selected input and output devices in Voicemod and your operating system, and make sure the relevant devices are not muted.
The device label above is the one given in Voicemod’s Zoom instructions. Labels and available settings may vary across app versions or configurations.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Troubleshoot by symptom
Zoom cannot see the Voicemod microphone
- Confirm Voicemod is open.
- Check that Voicemod is installed and that its virtual microphone is available as an input in Zoom.
- Verify that Zoom is set to Microphone (Voicemod Virtual Audio Device (WDM)), rather than directly to your physical microphone.
- Check device selection and mute state in Voicemod and the operating system. If the virtual device is still missing or muted, consult current Voicemod support guidance.
The audio is choppy or the voice effect does not play smoothly
Voicemod recommends turning off Zoom’s Automatically adjust microphone volume option and trying Original sound for musicians without echo cancellation. Voicemod says the audio profile is disabled by default and must be enabled during a meeting. These are the vendor’s recommendations, not a guarantee for every Zoom version or account configuration; setting names and results may differ.
You hear feedback or an echo
Use headphones rather than speakers to reduce the chance that Zoom’s playback will feed back into the microphone. Voicemod’s Help Center recommends headphones for proper use, but does not require a particular headset or model.

Windows and macOS
Voicemod publishes general setup instructions for both Windows and macOS. The core routing is the same: select the physical microphone in Voicemod, choose Voicemod’s virtual microphone in Zoom, and keep Voicemod open. Follow the device-selection guidance for your operating system and confirm the available inputs in your current app versions.
Voicemod’s general setup article describes an issue affecting some virtual audio devices and USB microphones beginning with macOS 12.1 in apps that use the VOIP/call API. That article does not establish whether the issue remains current or affects a particular Zoom version. If the virtual microphone is missing or muted on macOS, check current Voicemod support information rather than assuming this is a confirmed Zoom defect.

What to expect from compatibility
Voicemod’s official instructions support using its virtual microphone with Zoom, but they do not provide a release-by-release Zoom compatibility matrix or establish that one operating system, microphone, or headphone model produces better results. The practical check is whether Voicemod’s virtual microphone is available and selected in your installed versions of the apps.
