Vivaldi says its Ad blocker is off by default, but its iOS help page does not explicitly say which blocking level a fresh iPhone installation selects. To see or change the setting on your device, open Vivaldi menu > Settings > Ad and Tracker Blocker > Default Blocking Level. The selected level determines whether the browser blocks trackers, ads, both, or neither.
What the three blocking levels do
Vivaldi’s iOS settings offer three global levels. The distinction matters because blocking trackers can also remove some ads, even when the additional Ad blocker is not enabled.

Vivaldi recommends blocking trackers broadly and turning on ad blocking for sites where ads are intrusive or distracting. How to check or change the global setting
- Open the Vivaldi menu and tap Settings.
- Tap Ad and Tracker Blocker.
- Tap Default Blocking Level, then choose No Blocking, Block Trackers, or Block Trackers and Ads.
The iOS help page documents these controls but does not name the selection made on a fresh installation. The level shown on your iPhone is the practical way to confirm what is currently enabled.

How to allow ads or change blocking on one site
You can use a different blocking level for an individual website without changing the global default. With the site open, tap the content-blocker shield to the left of the address field and select the level for that site. Vivaldi also provides an exceptions list in Settings for managing sites where you want different behavior. The iOS help page describes both controls.
What to do if a site stops working
A site may rely on an element that the Tracker and/or Ad blocker blocks. If a page behaves unexpectedly, use the shield beside the address field to disable blocking for that site and see whether the problem goes away. Vivaldi also documents selectable blocking sources and exceptions in its iOS blocker instructions.

Stable app versus Snapshot
Vivaldi’s September 30, 2026 announcement for iOS Snapshot 4175.4 describes an updated ad-blocker interface and backend refactoring. Snapshot is a preview app installed separately from Final (the stable app), with its own preferences and settings. That preview announcement does not establish a change to the stable iOS app’s default or confirm that the stable app has the revised interface.
