No—not in Vimeo’s documented native workflow. Vimeo describes sending a Vimeo live event outward to YouTube, not taking a YouTube playlist as the source of a continuous Vimeo stream. YouTube’s playlist loop repeats videos for playback on YouTube; it does not create a live feed for Vimeo.
What Vimeo’s YouTube integration does
Vimeo documents two ways to send a live event to YouTube: connect a YouTube account directly, or configure YouTube as a custom RTMP destination with its server URL and stream key. In both cases, the live production feed originates in Vimeo and is sent to YouTube. Neither method makes a YouTube playlist the source of the Vimeo event.
Vimeo’s help article describes this feature as requiring an Advanced or Premium plan, or an Enterprise plan with the Events feature added. Plan packaging can change, so check Vimeo’s current plan details before relying on that eligibility. Vimeo says the direct integration supports up to 10 integrated destinations; its overview separately allows up to 20 custom RTMP destinations. These are destination limits, not evidence that a playlist can be ingested.
How to send a Vimeo live event to YouTube
Option 1: Connect YouTube directly
- In Vimeo, create or open the live event, then go to Settings and Destinations.
- Connect your YouTube account, choose the destination channel, set the YouTube privacy option, and enable the destination.
- Start the Vimeo event. Vimeo says the event simulcasts to the enabled destination once it goes live.
Option 2: Use a custom RTMP destination
- In YouTube Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key for the event.
- In Vimeo’s live event settings, open Destinations and add a custom RTMP destination.
- Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key, then save and enable the destination.
- When the Vimeo event starts, check YouTube Live Control Room. A scheduled YouTube event may require you to select Go live separately there.
YouTube requires a channel to be verified before it can go live. Some destination setups may also require a separate start action on the destination platform, so confirm the YouTube event is actually live rather than assuming that starting Vimeo completes every step.

Livestream Studio is a separate route
Vimeo documents a YouTube workflow in Livestream Studio: enter the YouTube stream URL and key in the YouTube provider, then select Go Live. Vimeo says this Studio workflow changed as of October 2024. For eligible Advanced or Premium accounts, or Enterprise accounts with Events, Vimeo recommends its platform simulcasting workflow. This Studio route also sends a live production feed; it does not turn a YouTube playlist into Vimeo’s source.

Vimeo does not establish one method as best for every event. Direct integration connects the account; RTMP requires copying the URL and key. Choose based on the setup you need and the current plan and destination requirements.

If your goal is continuous YouTube playback
Use YouTube’s playlist loop for repeated playlist playback on YouTube if that is all you need. That playback control is different from a live broadcast feed, and Vimeo’s documented integration does not ingest the playlist as an event source.
