No—not because StreamYard imposes a YouTube streaming time limit. StreamYard says it has no streaming limit for YouTube from its side. The often-mentioned 12-hour threshold is different: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured in the replay archive. That is an archive risk, not evidence that the live broadcast automatically stops at 12 hours.
Streaming limits and replay limits are different
A live broadcast can continue even when a service’s recording or archive rules limit what is saved. The current help pages from StreamYard and YouTube, accessed October 3, 2026, describe these as separate limits:

What happens when you use all your StreamYard Free hours?
If you are already live when you reach the Free plan’s monthly streaming allowance, StreamYard says it will not end that broadcast. The allowance does prevent you from starting another broadcast until it resets at the start of the next month.
To check your remaining allowance, open Billing > Streaming and recording hours in StreamYard. The allowance is a monthly account limit, not a timer that ends an active YouTube stream.

What happens to a StreamYard recording during a long stream?
StreamYard recording has a separate per-stream maximum: its current storage guidance lists 10 hours on Core and Advanced, and 24 hours on Business. If you exceed your available storage hours, StreamYard says streaming can continue, but its recording will be disabled. Check the current storage documentation and your plan before scheduling a long event; plan details can change.
These recording limits do not mean you must upgrade to keep a YouTube stream live. They matter if you need StreamYard itself to retain a recording of the session.

Will YouTube save a livestream that runs longer than 12 hours?
Do not count on it. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The guidance is about whether YouTube preserves a replay; it does not say that YouTube automatically ends every live broadcast at 12 hours.
For a broadcast longer than 12 hours, make and verify a local recording backup. YouTube specifically recommends keeping a local archive as a backup, and its archive guidance does not promise that the full replay of an extra-long stream will be available afterward.

Before scheduling an unusually long broadcast
- Confirm the current destination and plan limits in StreamYard’s limits guidance; the service distinguishes streaming, monthly allowances, and recording.
- If you use the Free plan, check Billing > Streaming and recording hours so you know whether you can start the broadcast.
- If you need a StreamYard recording, check the current per-stream recording limit and available storage for your plan.
- If the stream may exceed 12 hours, create and verify a local recording backup rather than relying on YouTube’s replay archive.
