No—not if OBS on that computer is sending the live feed. Livepush receives and distributes the video your encoder sends; it does not document continuing to generate that OBS-originated feed after the computer or encoder stops. For prepared video, Livepush offers a separate Pre-recorded Live workflow that uses uploaded MP4 files and a schedule.
Why an OBS stream stops when the computer shuts down
In the OBS workflow, OBS runs on your streaming computer. You enter Livepush’s RTMP server URL and stream key in OBS, then click Start Streaming. OBS sends the live feed to Livepush, which distributes the input to the destinations configured in your dashboard. If the computer is turned off, OBS can no longer supply that feed.
Livepush’s overview describes the encoder or publishing device as the source of the content. It also lists software and hardware encoders, including OBS, Streamlabs OBS, XSplit, Wirecast, and vMix. The service distributes what it receives; this workflow does not remove the need for an active source encoder. See Livepush’s OBS setup guide and service overview.
What to use if the computer must be off
For a live source
Keep the computer, OBS, and its network connection running while OBS is supplying the live feed. A hardware encoder is another supported way to send a stream, but it is still a source device; Livepush’s documentation does not establish that a powered-off encoder can keep supplying video.

For prepared video
Livepush documents a separate Pre-recorded Live option: upload MP4 files, create a stream schedule, and start the broadcast immediately or at the scheduled time. This is the relevant Livepush workflow to investigate if you want prepared content to air without keeping OBS open. Check Livepush’s current plan and scheduling limits before relying on it.
How to start an OBS stream to Livepush
- Sign in to Livepush and obtain the RTMP server URL and stream key for your stream.
- Open OBS on the computer that will send the feed. In OBS, open the stream settings, choose Custom as the service, and enter Livepush’s server URL and stream key.
- Click Start Streaming in OBS. Livepush’s guide says the incoming OBS stream should then appear on the Livepush dashboard.
- Keep the source running. Leave the computer, OBS, and network connection active for as long as that OBS-originated live feed needs to continue.

What a shutdown does not tell you
Livepush’s reviewed documentation does not specify how quickly ingest ends after power or network loss, whether a brief interruption receives a reconnection grace period, or exactly how each configured destination handles a dropped source. Do not count on a particular cutoff time or automatic recovery after a local shutdown; ask Livepush support and the destination platform about operational guarantees for your setup.
Troubleshooting when the stream does not appear
- The stream is absent from the Livepush dashboard: confirm the computer is online, OBS is streaming, and the RTMP URL and stream key were entered in the Custom service settings. Livepush’s OBS guide suggests checking the internet connection or contacting support if the stream still does not appear.
- You shut down the source computer: restart the computer and encoder and restore the source feed, or use a prepared-video workflow if the content does not need to be live from a camera or other live source.
- You need an exact reconnect or destination behavior: the reviewed Livepush documentation does not establish a timeout or destination-specific response. Confirm the details with Livepush support and the relevant destination.

Livepush’s pricing page, accessed October 3, 2026, advertises a free plan with 20 streaming hours per month to up to 3 platforms simultaneously, and paid plans starting at $15 per month or $13 per month with annual billing. These are published plan terms, not evidence that a stream continues after its source computer shuts down; check Livepush pricing for current availability and limits.
