Some Lenovo Flex 5 laptops support pressure-sensitive drawing with a compatible active pen, but support depends on the exact model and pen protocol. Lenovo specifies up to 4096 pressure levels for the IdeaPad Flex 5 14ABR8 with supported Lenovo Digital Pen options; that does not mean every Flex 5 has the same pen support or ships with a pen.
How pressure sensitivity works on a Flex 5
A capacitive touchscreen that responds to fingers is not, by itself, proof of pressure-sensitive pen input. The IdeaPad Flex 5 14ABR8 has a 10-point capacitive multi-touch screen, while Lenovo separately lists active-pen options with pressure sensitivity for that model. A compatible pen and the laptop’s supported pen technology are needed for pressure input.
Lenovo’s specifications list 4096 pressure levels for the supported Digital Pen options on the 14ABR8. This is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of drawing quality or feature support in every application.

Does the Flex 5 come with a pen?
Not necessarily. Lenovo’s 14ABR8 specification lists pen configurations as well as a “No pen (purchase separately)” configuration. Retail bundles can differ, so check the listing for the exact laptop configuration rather than assuming the pen is included.

How to check before buying a stylus
- Find the exact laptop identifier. Check the product listing, system information, or label for the full model or machine type; “Flex 5” alone is not specific enough.
- Match the pen protocol. Use Lenovo’s specification for that model to confirm whether it supports the particular pen type, such as USI 1.0 for the Flex 5 Chrome 14IAU.
- Confirm the specific pen is listed as compatible. For example, Lenovo’s Digital Pen 2 page names the IdeaPad Flex 5 14ABR8. Do not infer compatibility just because another Flex 5 accepts a Lenovo pen.
- Check what the seller includes. Verify the accessories in the exact configuration, and budget for a separate pen if the listing says it is not included.
