Freedom Mobile’s current published terms describe a $5 or $10 monthly Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) credit for 24 months—not a universal six-month credit. The six-month wording may refer to a separate or earlier offer, so check the exact promotion and eligible plan before signing up. Freedom says offers can change or be cancelled without notice.
How Freedom’s current BYOP credit works
Under Freedom Mobile’s 2026 terms, the credit is available only on an eligible bring-your-own-phone line; a line on a MyTab contract does not qualify. The terms say: “To be eligible for the $5 or $10 monthly credit for 24 months, you must be on a bring your own phone line (not on a MyTab contract) on an eligible plan during the promotion period.” Freedom Mobile’s terms and conditions govern the offer.
- The credit is applied as a pre-tax bill adjustment, starting on the second bill.
- You must remain active on an eligible plan to receive it. A month when you are ineligible is forfeited; it cannot be made up later.
- Eligibility ends if you switch to a non-eligible plan, sign up for MyTab, or port your number away from Freedom.
- The current terms allow the credit to be combined with Digital Discount, but not with other recurring discounts.
Confirm the amount, eligible plan and promotion period shown for your specific signup. The published maximum of $10 per month does not mean every BYOP line receives $10.
What the six-month wording may refer to
Freedom’s promotional page presents several offers with different benefits. Its 2026 listing includes 10GB when bringing your own phone on a referenced 35GB/$35 offer; a 100GB offer for three or more lines that is limited to new BYOP lines; and a separate offer of 15GB per month for six months at $25/month when bringing your number to Freedom. The six-month data offer is not the same thing as a $10 monthly service credit. Check Freedom’s current promotions for the offer available when you activate; the page says offers are limited-time and may change or be cancelled without notice.

Check your phone and plan before activating
- Verify the exact offer. Confirm the plan, credit amount and duration, and whether the promotion applies to a new line or number transfer. Keep the offer details for reference.
- Check phone compatibility. Freedom requires a compatible phone and provides a device compatibility tool. Do not rely on the phone being unlocked alone; verify the specific model.
- Keep the line off MyTab. The BYOP credit requires a bring-your-own-phone line, not a MyTab contract.
- Choose a SIM option. Freedom offers a standalone SIM card or eSIM activation. Its retail stores charge $10 for a replacement SIM.
- Review your second bill. The current terms say the pre-tax credit starts on bill two. If it is missing, check whether the line and plan meet the offer terms and contact Freedom.
Freedom says its prepaid plans have no credit check and no contract. That does not remove the need to meet the BYOP promotion’s plan and eligibility conditions.
Compare the full plan, not just the credit
A temporary credit is only one part of the cost and service. Before choosing an offer, compare the items below against the plan details Freedom provides for your address and line.
