Yes—Apple TV has announced Dolby Atmos for its U.S. Formula 1 coverage, beginning with the 2026 U.S. Grand Prix on Friday, October 23. The rollout is for U.S. Apple TV subscribers. Dolby says Atmos will play through the Apple TV app on supported Apple devices and compatible Dolby-enabled TVs, soundbars, and home theater systems, but it has not published a complete device compatibility list.
When does Dolby Atmos start for F1 on Apple TV?
Dolby Laboratories and Apple announced the addition on October 7, 2026. The first Atmos broadcast is scheduled for Friday, October 23, during the 2026 U.S. Grand Prix. As of the announcement, Atmos is an upcoming feature; the release does not say that earlier races in the season already have it.
Apple’s March 2026 season announcement specified 4K with Dolby Vision and 5.1 surround sound for every Grand Prix. The October announcement adds Atmos to the planned U.S. Grand Prix coverage, alongside Dolby Vision. Dolby’s October 7 announcement and Apple’s March season announcement describe the rollout.
What will Atmos add to the broadcast?
Dolby says the intended mix brings together team radio, commentary, engines, on-track battles, and pit-lane activity. That describes the planned sound experience, not an independently measured or tested result. The announcement does not report a performance figure or quantify how much more immersive the broadcast will sound.

- Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 surround sound
- A10X Fusion chip for ultra-fast graphics and performance
- Voice search by asking the Siri Remote
What do you need to listen in Dolby Atmos?
You need a U.S. Apple TV subscription to watch F1 coverage, plus a playback setup that supports Atmos. Dolby names the Apple TV app on supported Apple devices and compatible Dolby-enabled TVs, soundbars, and home theater systems. It does not provide a device-by-device list, so support for the Apple TV app on a given screen should not be taken as confirmation that Atmos works on that device.
Check the whole playback chain
Before buying or changing equipment, confirm Atmos compatibility for the specific Apple TV app device, the connection to your audio system, and the TV or receiver and speakers you plan to use. A compatible soundbar is one possible home setup, not a requirement Dolby states for every viewer. No particular soundbar model has been identified or tested in the announcement.

Which F1 viewing features are available on Apple TV?
Apple says U.S. subscribers can watch every practice, qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix, with English and Spanish commentary and F1 TV and Sky Sports broadcasts; full replays and highlights are also available. Apple says the season includes up to 30 additional live feeds across sessions. These viewing options do not establish that every feed, language, or screen carries Atmos.
