Sometimes, but Apple does not promise a charging-port-only replacement for every iPhone. Apple will inspect an iPhone that will not charge, then offer a model-, region- and parts-dependent service solution. That solution could be a port-level repair, another internal repair, or replacement of the device. Ask Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider what exact service is proposed before approving it.
What Apple’s repair policy actually means
Apple’s public iPhone repair guidance describes an assessment and estimate process rather than a universal Lightning- or USB-C-port replacement policy. You provide the iPhone model and symptoms, Apple inspects the device, and the available service depends on the model, the fault, parts availability and your location.
In practical terms, do not assume that a damaged connector will be removed and replaced as a standalone job. When you request service, ask whether the quote is for a port-level repair, another repair method, or a replacement iPhone. The answer can differ between models and service locations.
Check these causes before booking repair
A phone that will not charge does not necessarily have a failed port. Apple recommends a short set of checks that can identify a cable, charger, software or debris problem.

- Remove visible debris. Inspect the port and carefully remove debris as Apple directs. Do not force objects into the connector or use methods that could damage its contacts.
- Restart the iPhone. A temporary software fault can prevent charging or accessory recognition.
- Try a different compatible cable and charger. Use a known-good combination matched to the iPhone’s connector. A replacement cable can help identify a cable fault; it cannot repair a physically damaged port.
- Install the latest available iOS update. Apple includes current software among its charging troubleshooting steps.
- Test again directly from the charger. Remove hubs, adapters and other intermediate accessories while testing.
If the iPhone still will not charge, disconnects when the cable moves, or has visibly damaged hardware, arrange service rather than treating the checklist as proof that a home port repair is safe.
What an “accessory not supported” alert tells you
An alert such as “charging accessory isn’t supported or certified” does not prove that the iPhone’s port is broken. Apple identifies several possible causes:
- a dirty or damaged charging port;
- a defective or damaged cable or accessory; or
- a charger that is not designed to charge the device.
Try the known-good cable and charger checks before authorizing hardware work. If the warning persists with multiple compatible accessories, include that detail in the service request.

Apple Store or Genius Bar
An Apple Store can inspect the iPhone in person and explain the available service. Availability varies by store, so schedule or confirm an appointment before traveling.

An Apple Authorized Service Provider can provide in-person assessment using Apple’s service process. Authorized providers may set their own service fees, so ask for a written estimate and confirm whether the proposed work is performed on-site or sent elsewhere.
Mail-in service
Apple also offers a mail-in route for eligible iPhone service. Packaging, shipping charges and turnaround depend on the request and region. Back up the iPhone and follow Apple’s instructions before sending it.

How to compare repair options

Apple says its service uses genuine Apple parts. Its stated guarantee is: “We guarantee our service and replacement parts for 90 days or the remaining term of your Apple warranty, whichever is longer.” Confirm the terms that apply to your specific repair.
Warranty and coverage considerations
Apple’s one-year limited warranty covers manufacturing issues, not accidental damage. A bent, crushed, liquid-damaged or otherwise physically damaged connector may therefore be treated differently from a component that failed without accidental damage. AppleCare coverage, local consumer-law rights and other service-plan terms can change the result by region.

Do not rely on a general warranty statement to predict the outcome. Have Apple or the provider assess the phone, and ask whether the quoted service is covered, partially covered or out of pocket.

Can you replace the port yourself?
Apple’s Self Service Repair program supplies genuine parts, tools and manuals for certain out-of-warranty repairs and is intended for people with repair knowledge and experience. Eligibility is model-specific. The general program page does not establish that a charging-port part or procedure is available for every iPhone.
Before buying anything, open the repair manual for the exact model and check the corresponding parts store. If the model is not listed or the required charging-port procedure is unavailable, do not infer that a generic part or online guide is an Apple-supported repair. Charging-port work can involve delicate components and may affect water resistance, data connections or other functions.

If charging is intermittent
- Remove visible debris as directed by Apple.
- Restart the phone and update iOS.
- Test a known-good compatible cable and charger.
- If the problem remains, request an inspection and report exactly when charging cuts out.
If the port looks damaged or the phone will not charge at all
- Back up the iPhone while it still has power, if possible.
- Start an Apple service request or contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
- Give the exact iPhone model and describe the symptoms, including alerts, looseness, liquid exposure or impact.
- Ask whether the proposed outcome is port repair, another repair or device replacement.
- Confirm coverage, taxes, shipping, parts availability and the applicable service guarantee before authorizing work.
If you are considering do-it-yourself repair
- Find the exact model’s Apple repair manual.
- Verify that the charging-port procedure and part are actually listed.
- Assess whether you have the required tools and electronics-repair experience.
- Compare the part, tool and risk costs with the inspected service estimate.
What is not established
Apple’s general guidance does not provide a universal charging-port replacement price, a single repair method for all iPhone models, or a published charging-port failure rate. Any estimate must be treated as model-, region-, inspection- and parts-dependent. A provider’s quoted price may also include taxes or shipping and may differ from Apple’s own estimate.
