The game’s Steam listing recommends an XInput-compatible controller. That is the Reignite-specific compatibility guidance available; it does not establish that every DirectInput controller is unsupported or that a particular workaround will fix one.
First check whether Windows and Steam recognize the controller
Separate a connection or detection problem from a game-specific input problem. This is a general PC troubleshooting sequence, not a documented Reignite fix.
- Connect the controller and check whether Windows recognizes it. If it is wireless, confirm it is paired and connected; if wired, reconnect it and try another USB port if available.
- Check Steam’s controller interface to see whether the device appears there. If it does not, resolve the connection or PC/Steam detection issue before troubleshooting Reignite.
- Launch Reignite and test both menus and gameplay. Note whether no inputs register, only some buttons work, inputs are duplicated, or buttons trigger the wrong actions.
Try an XInput-compatible controller
The Reignite Steam store listing recommends an XInput-compatible controller. If your current controller is not recognized, try a known XInput-compatible controller if you can borrow one. The listing does not certify a particular make or model, so this is a compatibility check—not a claim that any specific controller has been tested.
If you are using a DirectInput or other non-XInput device, the available Reignite sources do not resolve whether it is supported or how to make it work. Do not assume that a controller mapping tool or input wrapper will fix the issue.

Use the symptoms to narrow down the problem
- Windows and Steam do not see the controller: troubleshoot the device connection and PC/Steam recognition first.
- Steam sees it, but Reignite does not respond: record the controller model, connection method, Steam Input setting, game version, and what happens in menus and gameplay. These details can help when asking for support.
- Inputs work but actions are wrong or duplicated: note which physical buttons produce which in-game actions. The reviewed Reignite information does not provide a confirmed remapping procedure or a universal Steam Input setting.
Do not apply fixes from the 2016 release as if they were confirmed for Reignite
A pinned troubleshooting thread for the original 2016 DoDonPachi Resurrection release says that DirectInput controllers are not fully supported and mentions JoyToKey as a possible workaround. That thread concerns a different release; it does not confirm Reignite has the same limitation or that JoyToKey works with Reignite. Avoid editing game files or installing an input wrapper on the assumption that older instructions apply.
Check Reignite updates and contact the right support channel
The Reignite Steam Community page shows a version 1.1.0 announcement dated October 1, 2026. The visible announcement describes Training Mode and a gameplay adjustment or bug fix, but does not mention a controller fix. That is limited to the announcement’s visible notes, not a guarantee about every update or support post.

If the PC and Steam recognize the controller but Reignite still does not, consult current support channels linked from the Reignite Steam listing. Steam identifies CAVE Interactive CO., LTD. as the developer and publisher for Reignite. Do not rely on support details listed for the 2016 game: its separate Steam support page applies to the older app.
