Yes. A YouTube livestream replay can earn ad revenue after the broadcast ends if the replay is available, the channel and video are eligible for monetization, and monetization is enabled. You can turn ads on after the stream has been published, but enabling them does not guarantee that ads will be served or that the replay will earn a particular amount.
How a livestream replay can earn revenue
When a replay is available on your channel, it is a video viewers can watch on YouTube. Eligible Watch Page videos, including live-streaming videos, may earn revenue from ads and YouTube Premium views. To earn Watch Page revenue, you need to meet YouTube’s applicable eligibility requirements and accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. See YouTube’s monetization overview.
You can enable ads while streaming or after the stream has been published. YouTube says ads can be added at any point during a video’s lifetime. See Tips on how ads work – Live and Choose how you want to monetize – Computer.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →What must be true for the replay to earn
- The replay exists and viewers can access it. If the stream was not archived, was deleted, or is unavailable to the intended audience, there is no accessible replay to monetize.
- Your channel is eligible. You need the applicable YouTube Partner Program eligibility and must have accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module for Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue.
- Monetization is enabled for the replay. Check the video’s monetization setting in YouTube Studio; a channel’s eligibility alone does not switch ads on for every video.
- The video meets YouTube’s policies and advertiser requirements. Content review, age restrictions, advertiser suitability, and advertiser choices can limit or prevent ads.
Turn on monetization after the broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the channel’s content list.
- Find the livestream replay and open its monetization settings.
- Check eligibility and policy status, then enable monetization if the option is available and appropriate for the video.
- Review the replay’s privacy and availability settings. A private replay is not available to the public; public or unlisted settings affect who can access it, not whether ad serving is guaranteed.
- Check realized results in Analytics. In YouTube Analytics, use the Live filter to review revenue for live streams and their replays. YouTube’s guidance is available in YouTube Analytics revenue reports.
Make sure YouTube saved the replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams that exceed 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not assume a long broadcast produced a replay. The 12-hour figure is an archive caveat, not a monetization threshold. You can also change an archive’s privacy setting or delete it. Check YouTube’s live stream archive guidance and confirm the replay appears in Studio before relying on it.

Why ads or revenue may not appear
- Ads are enabled, but none serve. YouTube explicitly cautions that choosing to turn on ads does not mean ads will automatically open on a video. Ad serving depends on YouTube’s systems and circumstances such as advertiser suitability and advertiser choices.
- The video is limited or ineligible. Content review, age restrictions, or policy issues can restrict monetization even when the channel otherwise qualifies.
- The replay is missing or inaccessible. Check that an archive exists and that its privacy setting allows the intended viewers to watch it.
- You are checking the wrong report or timeframe. Use YouTube Analytics and its Live filter to inspect live-stream and replay revenue.
For YouTube’s explanation of ad serving, see Choose how you want to monetize – Computer and Tips on how ads work – Live. No fixed earning rate follows from having a replay or enabling ads: actual results depend on whether eligible views and revenue-generating ads occur.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Keep a channel live continuously, or monetize the replay?
These are separate goals. Monetizing an existing replay concerns an archived video’s eligibility and settings. Keeping a channel live around the clock is a streaming setup; it does not guarantee ads or revenue on either the live broadcast or its replay.
