Usually, if you completed a one-time claim before the deadline—but the answer depends on the service and the type of offer. Epic Games Store says a full game claimed during its free promotion remains in your library. A game you did not claim in time is not added by that expired offer. Temporary builds and subscription-catalogue access are different from a permanent storefront claim.
What happens to an Epic Games Store game you claimed?
Epic’s support guidance says a free promotional game must be claimed during the period shown on the offer page. Once a qualifying full-game promotion is claimed, Epic says it remains in the library permanently. Epic’s missing-games and promotions guidance distinguishes completed claims from temporary access such as limited-time beta or press builds, which do not provide permanent access.
To add a game, Epic says, “you must claim it within the indicated period.” If you only opened the offer page or started a download but did not complete the claim, do not assume the game was added. Epic’s guidance for a missed free promotion explains that the offer has a limited claim period.
Does “permanently in the library” mean you own it forever?
No. A library entry is an entitlement under the storefront’s terms, not ownership of the software or a guarantee of perpetual technical access. Epic’s End User License Agreement describes adding software, including at no charge, as a transaction that grants a limited license. It also says that in rare cases software may be removed from the store and become unavailable for further download or access through it.

That distinction matters: a claimed game can remain listed in your account while access to its files, online features, servers, or store download is subject to separate limits. Epic’s support statement concerns the library entry; it is not a promise that every technical route to playing a game will work indefinitely.
What if you missed the claim deadline?
If the offer expired before you completed the claim, that promotion will not add the game to your library retroactively. Check whether the game returns in a future promotion or is available to buy. Epic’s free-games page lists current offers; the offer page’s stated period determines when a claim must be completed.

Does a Prime Gaming game or reward stay after Prime ends?
It depends on what the offer delivers and where it is redeemed. A game key redeemed to a separate PC storefront, an in-game reward delivered to a game account, and access to a subscription catalogue are not the same kind of claim. Check the specific offer’s redemption destination and terms rather than assuming that all Prime Gaming offers follow one retention rule.

How to check whether a claimed game is missing
- Sign in to the account used for the claim. A game claimed on a different storefront account will not necessarily appear in the account you are currently viewing.
- Check the library and the offer type. Confirm that the promotion was for the full game, not a demo, beta, press build, trial, in-game item, or subscription-catalogue listing.
- Confirm the claim completed before the offer ended. A page view or an attempted download alone does not establish that the transaction was completed.
- Use the storefront’s own missing-item support steps. Epic’s missing-games guidance directs users to verify the account associated with the claim or purchase.
What to verify when comparing free-game offers
- What is the offer? Identify whether it grants a full-game license, temporary build, in-game item, trial, or catalogue access.
- Where is it redeemed? The receiving storefront or game account is where the entitlement or reward should appear.
- When must you claim it? Separate the promotion’s claim deadline from any later activation or use deadline.
- Does access depend on an ongoing membership? The membership needed to claim an item may differ from the conditions for keeping an item already delivered.
- What could end access? Subscription expiry, license terms, store removal, server availability, and the loss of online features are distinct issues.
Retention rules for other storefronts, console subscription catalogues, and generic Amazon-distributed PC game keys are not established by the Epic and Destiny 2 policies above. Check the current official terms for the particular service and offer.
