First identify what is disconnecting: does Windows lose its connection to your router, does DJI Fly lose the controller, does the aircraft’s control or image signal drop, or does a computer fail to recognize a DJI device over USB? These are separate connections with different fixes. A DJI app or video-feed error alone does not show that the PC’s Wi-Fi is dropping, and DJI’s support guidance does not establish that connecting a controller to a PC causes Windows Wi-Fi failures.

Identify which connection is dropping

Check the Windows Wi-Fi indicator and the exact message or symptom before changing settings. Use the matching branch below:

  • Windows disconnects from its router or loses internet: troubleshoot the PC’s Wi-Fi connection.
  • Windows remains online, but DJI Fly says the controller is disconnected: troubleshoot the phone-to-controller connection.
  • The aircraft’s control or image signal drops: treat it as a flight-safety issue and follow the aircraft’s failsafe behavior.
  • A DJI device is not recognized by the computer: troubleshoot the USB connection and PC drivers.

If Windows Wi-Fi disconnects from the router

For Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft’s Wi-Fi connection is dropping frequently guidance is the appropriate starting point. Run the Network and Internet troubleshooter; on Windows 11, Microsoft directs users to Get Help. Then check the wireless adapter’s power settings and whether router-channel interference may be contributing to frequent drops.

  1. Run the network troubleshooter. Follow Microsoft’s Windows guidance; Windows 11 users should open Get Help as directed there.
  2. Check adapter power settings. Review the wireless adapter settings using Microsoft’s instructions and adjust power management if indicated.
  3. Check possible channel interference. Microsoft recommends investigating router-channel interference when Wi-Fi drops frequently.
  4. Use later recovery steps only if needed. If simpler checks fail, Microsoft lists driver reinstallation and restarting the PC as further options. If the PC has no internet access, secure the correct driver from the PC maker before removing or reinstalling the existing one.

These steps address the PC-to-router link. They will not repair a phone-to-controller connection or an aircraft signal problem.

If DJI Fly loses the controller while Windows stays online

Check how the phone connects to the controller; the right steps vary by DJI model and app. DJI’s controller-to-mobile troubleshooting guidance covers both wired and Wi-Fi arrangements.

For a wired phone-to-controller connection

  • Confirm the cable is connected to the correct port.
  • Disconnect and reconnect it, then try another compatible cable.
  • Restart the controller.

For a phone connected to the controller over Wi-Fi

  • Check whether another device has joined the controller’s Wi-Fi network.
  • Check whether the phone’s WLAN+ or Wi-Fi-assistant feature is switching away because the controller network has no internet access.

Do not assume that a cable or phone setting applies to every controller; confirm the connection method for your model.

If the aircraft’s control or image signal drops

A dropped aircraft-to-controller signal is a flight-safety matter, not a PC Wi-Fi fault. Keep attention on safe aircraft control and follow the aircraft’s failsafe behavior and applicable safety guidance; do not troubleshoot on a live flight by diverting attention from the aircraft.

Remote-controller signal errors

DJI identifies antenna orientation, obstacles, wireless interference, and possible controller hardware errors as causes to consider in its remote-controller signal guidance. Follow the checks for the specific aircraft and controller. If those checks do not resolve the problem, DJI recommends having the controller inspected.

No image transmission signal

For image transmission problems, DJI also points to interference and firmware compatibility. Where the app provides channel status, check it and use Auto channel selection if available. Consult the instructions for your model rather than assuming every app or aircraft has the same controls. See DJI’s image-transmission guidance.

If a computer does not recognize a DJI device over USB

This is a USB-to-PC recognition problem, not a Wi-Fi dropout. DJI’s computer-connection guidance recommends checking the following, with the exact software and connection details determined by the DJI product model:

When to seek inspection

If a wired controller-to-phone connection continues to fail after basic cable, port, and restart checks, DJI says persistent failure across Android and iOS can indicate a controller-port fault and recommends sending the controller for inspection. DJI also recommends inspection when its aircraft-signal checks do not resolve a persistent problem.
