In Divi 5’s Visual Builder, a command is a saved prompt you choose when you need it. Open the Divi AI Agent, create a command in its Commands list, then call it from chat with / or select it from the list. The command text appears in the composer for you to review and edit; it does not run until you send it.
What you need before creating a command
Commands require Divi 5 and access to Divi AI, which Elegant Themes says is available through a separate subscription or Divi Pro. Agent usage draws on an AI Wallet balance funded by the subscription; check your account’s current terms for usage details. See Elegant Themes’ Divi AI Agent setup guide.
Create and save a command
- Open the page you want to work on in Divi 5’s Visual Builder.
- Open the Divi AI Agent using its icon in the builder.
- Open the Agent’s Commands list and choose Add New Command.
- Enter a short name in Title, then write the reusable instruction in Command.
- Save the command.
Make the instruction specific about its intended scope. For example, “Review the pricing section on this page for heading order and contrast issues. Do not change anything.” A saved command is a reusable instruction, not a recording of a previous edit; it acts on the page open when you invoke it.
Run a saved command without sending it prematurely
- In the Agent chat composer, type
/and choose the saved command, or select it from the Commands list. - Read the inserted text. Add details that vary by page—such as the section name or an exclusion—and adjust the wording if needed.
- Choose the appropriate mode, then send the prompt.
Choosing a command only inserts its text into the composer. It does not immediately inspect or modify the page. That gives you a chance to confirm the target and instructions before the Agent acts. Elegant Themes documents the command workflow in its Divi AI Agent Commands reference.

Choose Ask or Build based on the result you want

These modes are described in Elegant Themes’ Ask Mode and Build Mode guide. For a review-only command, say explicitly that the Agent should report findings without changing anything, and use Ask. For an edit, specify what to change and where, use Build, and inspect proposed changes before accepting them.
Know when to use a Command, Rule, or Context

Context identifies a reference; your prompt still needs to say what to do with it. A command may have context attached and can include other commands. The official command reference notes one nesting restriction: a custom command already used as a nested command cannot be selected again in that nesting flow. Useful commands to save
Save instructions that recur across pages, then supply page-specific details before sending. Examples include:

- Accessibility review: “Review heading order, color contrast concerns, and images without alt text on this page. Do not change anything.”
- Image descriptions: “Add descriptive alt text to images on this page, preserving meaningful existing text.”
- Mobile layout review: “Review this page at phone width and report elements that look cramped or overly wide. Do not change the design.”
- Proofreading: “Proofread headings and paragraphs on this page for typos only. Do not rewrite for style.”
- Design inventory: “Identify the colors, fonts, and spacing values actually used on this page.”
- Variable cleanup: “Convert hard-coded color and spacing values on this page to existing Global Variables where appropriate.”
- Find outdated references: “Find modules on this page that mention the old company name, and list their locations before making changes.”
For a command you reuse on different pages, keep the stable process in its saved text and add variable details—such as which section to inspect or which source color to replace—each time you run it.

Edit, duplicate, delete, or add context
The Commands list lets you edit, duplicate, and delete saved custom commands. To attach a reference, open the command editor, add a context item, and select an element such as a preset or variable. This is useful when the recurring task should point to a particular design reference rather than relying on a text description. The official Commands reference covers command management and context.

Commands are invoked on demand; they are not standing instructions. Use Rules for persistent guidance and name the page area or elements a command should affect. Elegant Themes’ capability overview reports more than 190 purpose-built Agent tools, a vendor-reported count, and distinguishes site-level abilities from the broader capabilities available inside the builder.
