The Dimensity 9500s is the newer and more advanced chip on paper: it has newer CPU cores, a 3nm process, faster supported memory, and a newer GPU family than the Dimensity 9000+. But the available evidence does not establish a controlled, phone-to-phone benchmark result proving a specific performance lead. The comparison spans different generations, so specifications indicate capability—not how a particular handset will perform in sustained use.
Dimensity 9000+ vs Dimensity 9500s specifications
MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9000+ on June 22, 2022, and the Dimensity 9500s on January 15, 2026. They are not contemporaneous chips: the 9500s belongs to a substantially newer platform generation. The table reflects MediaTek’s published specifications and feature descriptions.

Specifications and feature support are from MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ product page, Dimensity 9500s product page, and the linked launch announcements. Maximum memory speeds and platform features are not guarantees that every phone will implement them. Cache figures also use different labels and aggregations, so they should not be treated as a strict like-for-like measure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The Dimensity 9500s has the stronger specification case: its CPU uses newer core generations, its listed process is 3nm rather than 4nm-class, its supported LPDDR5X speed is higher, and it uses Immortalis-G925 graphics rather than Mali-G710 MC10. These differences point to a more capable platform on paper, but they do not establish a numerical performance lead in real phones.

No reproducible, directly comparable benchmark results for the 9000+ and 9500s were established. A meaningful comparison would need identified handset models and matched conditions, including benchmark version, software, memory configuration, performance settings and cooling. CPU, GPU and overall-system tests should also be considered separately; a single aggregate score would not describe every kind of workload.
MediaTek’s launch statement that the 9000+ improved CPU performance by more than 5% and GPU performance by more than 10% compares it with the original Dimensity 9000—not with the 9500s. It cannot be used as a result for this matchup. Likewise, clock speeds alone do not yield a direct performance ratio because the chips use different CPU architectures.

What the specification differences mean
CPU and manufacturing process
The 9000+ combines Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510 cores; the 9500s uses Cortex-X925, Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores. MediaTek lists maximum prime-core clocks of 3.2GHz for the X2 and 3.73GHz for the X925. Those figures are not an apples-to-apples speed test: core design, software, cooling and a phone’s power limits all matter. A smaller process label also does not, by itself, prove longer battery life.

Graphics and gaming
The 9000+ uses Mali-G710 MC10 graphics. The 9500s uses Immortalis-G925, with MediaTek noting that phone makers may use an 11-core or 12-core configuration. For gaming, the particular handset’s GPU configuration, thermal design, display refresh rate and game settings matter alongside the chip family.

- US Model – Global Connectivity – Compatible with Most GSM Carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, MetroPCS, etc. Will Also work with CDMA Carriers Such as Verizon, Straight Talk.
MediaTek says the 9500s can enable gameplay up to 165 FPS, or power-optimized 120+ FPS in demanding titles. Those are vendor claims, not a guarantee for every game or phone; the title, settings and sustained thermal behavior affect achievable frame rates. The company also lists Wi-Fi 7 and its gaming technologies for the 9500s, while the 9000+ page lists Wi-Fi 6E and HyperEngine 5.0. A handset maker may not expose every platform feature, so check the exact phone specifications.
Memory, storage and connectivity
MediaTek lists LPDDR5X support up to 7500Mbps for the 9000+ and up to 10667Mbps for the 9500s. The newer chip also lists UFS 4 with MCQ. These are supported maximums and platform capabilities; a phone’s actual memory speed and storage implementation depend on its design.

Both chips have a vendor-listed maximum downlink figure of up to 7Gbps, despite the 9000+ using a Release-16 modem and the 9500s a Release-17 modem with 4CC-CA. A theoretical modem figure does not predict an individual user’s speed: network deployment, coverage and handset implementation determine real-world results.
Imaging and AI
The 9000+ lists an NPU 590 and Imagiq 790 imaging features, including an 18-bit HDR-ISP. MediaTek describes the 9500s with generative-reasoning and multimodal AI capabilities, along with 8K Dolby Vision capture and 30fps focus tracking claims. These describe what the platform can support, not features guaranteed in every phone. Camera sensors, lenses, software and the phone maker’s implementation remain decisive.

Which chip should guide a phone purchase?
Do not choose a phone based on the processor name alone. The 9500s is the newer platform and has the stronger published specification set, but the sources cited here do not identify specific phones using either chip or establish matched-device performance, battery life, price or software-support comparisons.
Quick Recap
- Compare the exact phone models and regional versions; a chipset family can appear in devices with different configurations.
- Look for independent tests of the same handset configuration, noting benchmark version, software, performance mode and whether results measure a brief peak or sustained performance.
- For gaming, check sustained frame rates and temperatures in the games you play, not just a vendor’s maximum-FPS claim.
- For everyday use, weigh battery tests, display, cameras, software support and price alongside processor specifications.
