The Dimensity 8500 Extreme is the stronger chip on paper and in the device-tested scores that 91mobiles reports for it. MediaTek’s official platform pages show the Dimensity 8500 using an all-Cortex-A725 CPU and a Mali-G720 MC8 GPU, while the Dimensity 8350 uses a mix of Cortex-A715 and Cortex-A510 cores with a Mali-G615 MC6 GPU. The “Ultra” and “Extreme” suffixes do not appear on MediaTek’s product pages. They come from the variant naming in 91mobiles’ comparison, so the exact-variant figures below are that site’s reporting, not MediaTek’s specifications.
Platform specifications at a glance
MediaTek’s product pages describe the base Dimensity 8350 and Dimensity 8500 platforms. The table lists those official values next to the variant-level details that 91mobiles attaches to the Ultra and Extreme names. Where the two layers differ, the table says which source supplies each value.

The official maximum memory speeds are platform capability figures. A phone’s actual memory configuration determines what a buyer receives. Both platform pages list Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, but regional band support and antenna design are set by each handset maker, so those values do not confirm how a specific phone behaves.
CPU: an all-big-core layout versus a mixed design
The clearest architectural difference is the core mix. The Dimensity 8350 pairs four Cortex-A715 cores with four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. The Dimensity 8500 replaces that split with eight Cortex-A725 cores, so no core in its CPU cluster is a low-power efficiency core.

The 8500 also uses three clock tiers rather than a single peak frequency:
- One Cortex-A725 core up to 3.4 GHz, for the heaviest single-threaded bursts.
- Three Cortex-A725 cores up to 3.2 GHz.
- Four Cortex-A725 cores up to 2.2 GHz, which handle lighter background load.
Clock speed figures are maximums. The sustained speed a phone reaches depends on its cooling and power limits, which the platform pages do not describe.

GPU: a newer family with more cores
The Dimensity 8500 moves from Mali-G615 MC6 to Mali-G720 MC8, which is both a newer GPU family and two more listed cores. That is a meaningful step up on paper. It does not, by itself, predict how long a game holds a high frame rate, because thermal limits and the handset’s power budget decide that. Treat the GPU difference as a reason to expect higher peak graphics output, not a measured sustained gaming advantage.

Both platforms use LPDDR5X memory and UFS storage with MCQ, so the practical difference is the memory speed ceiling: 8533 Mbps for the 8350 and 9600 Mbps for the 8500 on MediaTek’s pages. The 8500 page lists the storage standard as “UFS 4”, while the 8350 page lists “UFS 4.0”. Both are official wording and should be quoted as written.

91mobiles lists both chips on a 4 nm process. A shared node means the process technology does not separate the two chips, so any efficiency difference has to come from the core design, clock behavior and power management rather than from manufacturing.
Benchmark results from 91mobiles
The following figures are the highest scores 91mobiles recorded on devices running each variant. They are device-tested results reported by that site, not a controlled head-to-head test, and they are not a guaranteed score for every handset with the same chip.

The percentage column is simple arithmetic on the reported scores and is not a separate test. The gap is widest in multi-core and CPU-heavy workloads, which fits an all-big-core design with eight active cores. The comparison does not isolate causes, so the architecture explanation is consistent with the numbers rather than proven by them.

What these scores can and cannot tell you
- AnTuTu and Geekbench are synthetic suites. They measure specific workloads under short bursts and do not capture everyday app behavior, multitasking or long gaming sessions.
- A score reflects the phone it was run on. Cooling design, memory configuration, firmware version, power limits and the test app version all shift results, and 91mobiles does not report those conditions for each run.
- A “highest recorded” score is a best case from that site’s sample, so a typical unit of the same phone may land lower.
- The two chips are compared at different tiers of phones. A higher benchmark does not mean the phone is the better purchase at its price.
Choosing between the two
If the question is which processor has the higher ceiling, the Dimensity 8500 is the answer on both official specifications and 91mobiles’ reported scores. The 8350 Ultra remains a reasonable reference point for buyers whose phones are priced lower, but the performance gap is large enough that the chip itself will matter for demanding games and heavy multitasking.

Before buying a phone with either chip, check these points on the handset itself:
- Cooling design and any published sustained-performance testing for that model.
- Installed RAM and storage configuration, not just the platform’s maximum memory speed.
- Battery capacity, display specification and charging speed.
- Software update commitment from the manufacturer.
- Local price and availability. 91mobiles lists the realme P3 Ultra for the 8350 Ultra and the Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G for the 8500 Extreme, but it notes that availability depends on market, and the realme P3 Ultra and Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G are examples rather than the only phones using each chip.
