The Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7300X are closely related MediaTek chips that MediaTek describes with the same CPU and GPU arrangement. The 7300X is the one MediaTek positions for flip-style foldables with two displays. “Dimensity 7300 Ultra” does not appear as a separate official MediaTek chip name in the material reviewed, and no controlled benchmark compares the two chips directly. If you are choosing a phone, the handset’s own specifications and tests matter far more than the chip label.
Is “Dimensity 7300 Ultra” a separate MediaTek chip?
Probably not. Motorola’s India specification page for the Edge 50 Neo lists its processor as “MediaTek Dimensity 7300”. PassMark’s Android device page for the same phone labels its CPU “Mediatek Dimensity 7300-Ultra (MT6878)”. None of the MediaTek material reviewed uses “Ultra” in a chip name, so the word appears to be a label added by a benchmark database rather than a separate product tier. The evidence supports only this narrower claim: “Ultra” is not corroborated as an official MediaTek model. Until a manufacturer says otherwise, read “Dimensity 7300 Ultra” as the Dimensity 7300.
Side-by-side specifications
MediaTek’s May 30, 2024 announcement introduced the 7300 and 7300X together as related 4nm chips. The table separates what MediaTek states for each chip. Where a value appears only for the 7300X, the 7300 column reads “not stated” because the reviewed MediaTek material gives no figure for the 7300.

What the 7300X adds: dual-display support
The clearest difference MediaTek draws is intent. In its announcement, the company presents the 7300X as a chip for foldable designs with two screens. MediaTek’s Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of its Wireless Communications Business, said: “Furthermore, the Dimensity 7300X enables OEMs to develop innovative new form factors thanks to its dual display support.” That is a vendor statement about design intent, not an independent evaluation of how the chip performs in such a device.
Example: Motorola Razr 50
Motorola’s US support specification page for the Razr 50 names the Dimensity 7300X and lists a 6.9-inch internal display and a 3.63-inch external display. The page content is in Italian despite the US support domain. This shows the form factor MediaTek is targeting, but it describes one handset. Other 7300X phones may use different screens, batteries and memory configurations.

Example: Motorola Edge 50 Neo
Motorola’s India specification page for the Edge 50 Neo lists the Dimensity 7300 alongside a 6.4-inch pOLED display and a 4310mAh battery. Those are phone-level features for that regional listing. They say nothing about the chip itself, and specifications can differ between regions.
Benchmark evidence: what exists and what it measures
No head-to-head benchmark of the Dimensity 7300 and 7300X turned up in the material reviewed. The results that do exist come from two different kinds of source, and neither isolates one chip.

PassMark’s device-level aggregate for the Edge 50 Neo
PassMark’s Android Benchmark page draws on thousands of PerformanceTest Mobile results and updates daily. For the Edge 50 Neo, the page shows the following averages:
- Average CPU Mark: 6,707
- Average Mem Mark: 20,040
- Average Disk Mark: 56,119
- Average 2D Mark: 27,131
- Average 3D Mark: 35,571
The rating is based on 24 samples, with a first benchmark date of February 6, 2025, and the page’s CPU comparison is dated June 29, 2026. These are averages of user-submitted tests on one phone model. They reflect the phone’s memory, storage and software as much as the processor, and they are not a fixed lab result or a score for the chip alone. No 7300X device appears in the comparison, so the page cannot rank the two chips.

MediaTek’s performance and efficiency claims
MediaTek’s May 30, 2024 announcement claims 20% faster FPS and 20% improved energy efficiency compared with unnamed “competitor alternatives”, along with 13% to 30% greater power efficiency in common sub-6GHz 5G scenarios. The announcement names no competitor and gives no test method. MediaTek’s 7300X product page repeats similar claims, stating up to 20% greater FPS and up to 20% improved energy efficiency for gaming, and 13% to 30% greater power efficiency in common 5G scenarios. These are the company’s own comparisons. They are not measurements of the 7300 against the 7300X.

A fair verdict on speed needs the same test run on both chips, or on phones that differ only in the chip. The reviewed sources offer neither. PassMark’s data measures whole phones, MediaTek’s percentages compare the chip with unnamed rivals, and the specification pages do not report sustained performance, thermal behaviour or memory configuration for each chip. Shared CPU and GPU arrangements suggest similar baseline capability, but that is an inference from the spec sheets, not a measured result.

How to choose between phones built on these chips
- If you want a foldable with two screens, look for a phone that names the Dimensity 7300X on its official specification page, such as the Razr 50 example above.
- If you want a conventional bar-style phone, the Dimensity 7300 in a phone like the Edge 50 Neo covers that use case. The 7300X’s dual-display design adds little for a single-screen phone.
- Read the chip name from the manufacturer’s page for the exact model and region you plan to buy, not from a benchmark database.
- Compare display type and size, battery capacity, memory and storage configuration, cameras, regional price and software update commitments.
- Treat benchmark averages as indications of one model’s typical results, and check that the sample size and test date suit your decision.
Verdict
For most buyers the choice comes down to form factor. The Dimensity 7300X is the chip to look for in a dual-display flip phone, and the Dimensity 7300 suits standard phones. Neither the reviewed specifications nor the available benchmarks show that one chip is faster than the other.
