Available Geekbench figures also favor the 7400X samples, but they come from different publishers and test cohorts—not a controlled head-to-head test—so they do not establish a definitive performance margin.
There is also a naming caveat: “Dimensity 7300 Plus” is the label used in 91mobiles’ database; MediaTek’s official product page is for the Dimensity 7300, and its catalog separately includes a Dimensity 7300X. Those names should not be treated as interchangeable.

What is different between the 7300 Plus and 7400X?
The 7400X has a 100MHz higher listed A78 peak clock
The clearest documented CPU difference is the maximum clock for the four Cortex-A78 cores: up to 2.6GHz on the 7400X versus up to 2.5GHz in 91mobiles’ 7300 Plus listing. That is a specification difference, not proof that every phone using the 7400X will feel faster. Sustained performance depends on a handset’s cooling, power limits, software and workload.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The 7400X is positioned for dual-display flip phones
MediaTek specifically describes the 7400X as supporting dual-display flip phones. That is a device-design distinction, not a promise that every 7400X phone is foldable. Motorola’s Razr 60 is among the devices shown in Notebookcheck’s 7400X benchmark listings, but the chip name alone does not identify a phone’s design or features.
Most listed headline capabilities overlap
Both sets of specifications include the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU and 4nm process, while MediaTek’s pages list Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, 200MP camera support, 4K30 capture and 3CC carrier aggregation for the Dimensity 7300 and 7400X. These shared capability labels are not unique advantages of the 7400X. They also do not guarantee identical results between phones: implementation, tuning, supported camera hardware and regional configuration matter.

Memory and storage depend on the handset
The 7300 Plus database entry lists LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1. MediaTek lists more options for the 7400X: LPDDR5 or LPDDR4x memory and UFS 3.1 or UFS 2.2 storage. These are supported configurations, not a guarantee that a particular 7400X phone uses the faster option. Compare the phone’s own memory and storage specifications.

The displayed Geekbench figures are higher for the 7400X sample aggregate, but they are not an apples-to-apples comparison. The figures come from different publishers, test versions or cohorts, device configurations and sample counts. The available sources do not provide a same-lab test of the exact 7300 Plus and 7400X under matching phone conditions. Do not read the difference as a guaranteed percentage gain. For a purchase decision, compare phones tested on the same benchmark version under similar conditions.

MediaTek’s 2025 announcement says the 7400X integrates NPU 6.0, with a “15% upgrade in performance over the Dimensity 7300.” This is the manufacturer’s claim and names the base Dimensity 7300 as its comparator; it does not establish the same gain over the 7300 Plus label or constitute an independent benchmark.

MediaTek also makes gaming and power-efficiency comparisons for the 7300 and 7400 family against competitor alternatives. Those claims use different comparators and do not measure the 7300 Plus directly against the 7400X, so they cannot establish which chip delivers better gaming performance or battery life in a particular phone. Battery capacity, display, cooling, software, radio conditions and the manufacturer’s tuning all affect endurance.
In the same announcement, MediaTek’s Dr. Yenchi Lee, General Manager of its Wireless Communications Business, said the 7400 and 6400 chipsets demonstrate the company’s ability to bring smartphone experiences to more affordable price ranges. This is a vendor statement, not an independent assessment of handset prices or value.

Which chipset should you choose?
Choose between complete phone models rather than relying on the processor name alone. The 7400X’s higher listed A78 clock and dual-display flip-phone positioning may matter if the handset’s design and implementation suit your needs; the available benchmark evidence does not establish a controlled performance win over the 7300 Plus.
Quick Recap
- Compare the exact phone’s processor, memory type, storage type and cooling design.
- For gaming or demanding workloads, look for tests of the handset itself, preferably using the same benchmark version and similar conditions.
- For battery life, compare independent handset tests rather than inferring endurance from a chipset label or vendor efficiency claim.
- Include price, software-update policy, display, battery capacity and regional availability in the decision.
