The De’Longhi Dedica Duo EC890 is a compact manual espresso machine with presets for espresso, double espresso, and cold brew, plus a steam wand for milk drinks. Its main distinction from older Dedica models is a cold-extraction mode; its trade-offs include a manual workflow and, according to TechRadar’s review, confusing indicator lights and some post-shot dripping.
What the Dedica Duo EC890 does
De’Longhi’s US listing for the EC890M specifies three touch-interface drink presets: Espresso, Double Espresso, and Cold Brew. The machine also has a cool-touch steam wand for steaming milk, so it can make milk-based drinks as well as espresso. It is a manual espresso maker, not an automatic bean-to-cup machine: expect to prepare the coffee and operate the portafilter yourself.
The manufacturer calls its cold-drink feature Cold Extraction Technology. De’Longhi says it can make cold brew in less than five minutes. That is the manufacturer’s advertised claim, not a guarantee that every recipe or serving will take the same time. TechRadar’s 2025 review describes the process as slower than making hot espresso but faster than traditional overnight cold brewing, and its reviewer found the result mellow. For the US EC890M, De’Longhi lists dimensions of 13 × 5.9 × 12 inches, a 34.83-ounce water tank, 1450 W input, 15-bar pump pressure, and a maximum cup height of 5.85 inches. The same US listing specifies 120 V / 60 Hz electrical requirements. These are manufacturer figures for that regional listing; do not use its electrical rating for a machine sold elsewhere.

The EC890’s most important functional distinction from the older Dedica Style EC685 is its dedicated cold-extraction capability. TechRadar also notes changes to the Duo’s drip tray and steam-wand handling. The machines should not be treated as interchangeable based on the Dedica name alone: compare the functions and local package details that matter to you.

The fine-grind observation is a useful practical clue: coffee preparation and grind can affect the result, and the review does not establish that a grinder is included.
