The Dell Pro 5 16 AMD (model P516265) is a configurable business laptop, so its screen, processor, memory, storage, battery and charging experience depend on the exact build. Its practical strengths are a broad selection of built-in ports and replaceable components; the main buying caution is that results from premium review units do not predict the performance or battery life of less expensive configurations.
What this review covers—and why the configuration matters
Dell’s US product pages show different slices of the P516265 range. One currently displayed configurator includes Ryzen AI 5 PRO 435 and Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 choices, while another US listing shows Ryzen AI 9 PRO 465 and Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 options. The displayed build on the first page has a 16-inch, 1920×1200 non-touch screen, 32 GB of DDR5 in two modules, a 512 GB SSD and a 65 W USB-C adapter; lower-priced builds are also shown. These are page-specific offers, not a universal specification. Check the exact CPU, RAM, panel, SSD, battery and adapter on the listing for your region before buying. Which screen should you choose?
The screen is one of the most consequential configuration differences. Dell’s displayed US build uses a 16-inch WUXGA (1920×1200) non-touch panel rated at 400 nits and 62.5% sRGB. That is a productivity-oriented specification, but its stated color coverage is more limited than the higher-color options listed in the UK. Dell UK’s configurator includes a 500-nit WUXGA panel with 100% sRGB and a 2560×1600 option; availability is regional and can change. Dell UK configurator

ServeTheHome describes the product family as offering IPS touch and non-touch choices up to 2560×1600, with no OLED option. Its tested top-resolution panel was 500 nits, 100% sRGB and variable-refresh from 48 to 120 Hz. Treat those details as a description of the reviewed family and sample, not a promise that every country or current configuration offers that panel. For office documents and general work, compare resolution and brightness; for color-sensitive work, confirm the listed gamut rather than assuming all 16-inch versions are alike.

How fast is the Dell Pro 5 16 AMD?
Independent performance evidence in the available reviews comes from premium Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 systems, not the lower-priced Ryzen AI 5 or Ryzen AI 7 builds. ServeTheHome’s test machine had 64 GB of DDR5-5600, Radeon 890M integrated graphics and a 2560×1600 120 Hz screen. In Geekbench 6 it scored 2,950 in single-core performance, close to the Intel comparison in that review; its multi-core result trailed that comparison. These figures describe that review configuration and test, not every P516265. ServeTheHome review · ServeTheHome performance results
The integrated Radeon 890M was characterized by ServeTheHome as capable for an integrated GPU, but not a replacement for discrete graphics where a workload depends on that level of graphics performance. If your work involves demanding 3D rendering, GPU-heavy production or gaming, do not infer suitability from the laptop’s business-class branding; look for testing of the exact configuration and workload you need.

What battery life can you expect?
Battery capacity varies: ServeTheHome reports 45 Wh, 57 Wh and 70 Wh options for the product family, and Dell UK lists these choices in its configurator. The specific combination available depends on region and build. Dell does not provide an estimated runtime on the configurator reviewed by ServeTheHome, so capacity alone cannot establish how long a particular unit will last. Does it have a numeric keypad and useful ports?
The 16-inch format is the relevant choice if you want a larger work area, and Dell’s product page prompts buyers to check whether a numeric keypad is available. Confirm the keyboard layout and keypad on the exact regional listing; the page prompt should not be read as a guarantee that every version has the same keyboard. Dell’s listed connectivity includes:
- Two Thunderbolt 4/USB4 Type-C ports with power delivery and DisplayPort
- Two USB-A ports
- HDMI 2.1
- 1 GbE RJ45 Ethernet
- Headset audio
The built-in wired Ethernet and mix of USB-A, USB-C and HDMI make it practical for many desk setups without requiring a hub for basic peripherals and display connections. Port capabilities and placement should still be checked against Dell’s specification for the exact regional configuration.

Can you upgrade or repair it?
Serviceability is a clear advantage. ServeTheHome found replaceable SO-DIMM memory, battery, SSD and Wi-Fi radio in its review unit. The laptop has one M.2 2230 SSD slot. That shorter drive format narrows upgrade choices compared with the more common 2280 laptop SSD, so check the drive size and compatibility before purchasing an upgrade. Dell’s UK configuration page lists memory up to 64 GB and storage choices from 256 GB to 2 TB, but those options are regional and may not match US availability.
For buyers deciding between memory configurations, check whether the listing specifies one or two modules. Dell’s displayed US build uses 32 GB in two modules; the exact setup matters when assessing upgrade options and memory-channel configuration. Do not assume every capacity is supplied in the same module arrangement.

Will the included charger support fast charging?
Check adapter wattage alongside battery capacity. ServeTheHome’s review sample paired a 70 Wh battery with a 65 W adapter: it charged, but Dell ExpressCharge required a 100 W adapter for that battery. The US configuration displayed by Dell also shows a 65 W USB-C adapter. Do not assume ExpressCharge is included with every adapter or that the adapter shown for one build applies to another. ServeTheHome charging details
Who should consider the Dell Pro 5 16 AMD?
The P516265 makes the most sense for buyers who want a large-screen business laptop with Ethernet, a useful spread of built-in ports and components that can be replaced or upgraded. It is less straightforward as a one-line recommendation because display quality, battery capacity, processor and charger differ by configuration and market.
- Good fit: Office and business users who value wired networking, built-in ports, a 16-inch workspace and serviceable memory or storage.
- Choose carefully: Buyers who care about screen color, touch, resolution, refresh rate, long unplugged sessions or fast charging should verify those specifications on the exact build.
- Look elsewhere or demand workload-specific evidence: Users who need discrete-GPU performance should not treat the integrated Radeon 890M as equivalent, and should compare systems tested for their actual applications.
For a meaningful comparison with another business laptop, match the processor and workload, display resolution and gamut, RAM capacity and module arrangement, SSD form factor, battery capacity, adapter wattage, ports, weight, warranty and price for the same region. A benchmark or battery result from this laptop’s premium review configuration is not a fair proxy for a competing entry-level model—or for a lower-tier P516265.
