Cypress Cloud’s published pricing does not show a separate fee for storing screenshots. Screenshots and videos are attached to test results, and their availability follows the data-retention period for your plan. Cypress’s published charges center on test-result usage and AI capabilities, so screenshot-related costs are tied to the plan and its result allowances rather than a separately listed screenshot-storage rate. Check your organization’s current Billing & Usage view before estimating what you will pay: plan terms and account-specific usage can differ.
Does Cypress Cloud charge separately for screenshot storage?
In the Cypress Cloud pricing and billing materials reviewed, there is no standalone screenshot-storage price. Cypress describes usage billing in terms of test results—some included with a plan, some bundled, and some available on demand—and AI capabilities. Screenshots and videos are artifacts attached to test results, not a separately priced storage line item in those materials.
That distinction does not establish that every account or contract has identical terms. Your organization’s plan, contract, usage, and current pricing determine its charges. Cypress can change its plans and prices, so use the current pricing page and your team’s Billing & Usage view for a present-day estimate.
How Cypress Cloud stores screenshots
When a run is recorded with cypress run --record, Cypress sends run data to Cypress Cloud. That data can include terminal output, test results and definitions, Cypress configuration (excluding Cypress environment variables), screenshots, videos, and CI- or Git-related environment variables. Screenshots and videos are associated with their respective test results and can be browsed or shared in the Cloud interface.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Cypress documentation says: “Screenshots and videos are attached to their respective test results and kept for the length of your data retention period, and can be shared or browsed through our web interface.”
Test Replay changes what may be sent
If Test Replay is enabled, Cypress may also receive DOM and CSS data, Cypress commands and events, network information, and browser-console information. Consider this additional data when reviewing what a recorded run sends to Cloud and your organization’s data-handling requirements.

How long are Cypress Cloud screenshots kept?
Artifacts are retained for the data-retention period associated with the plan. Cypress’s FAQ specifies 30 days for Starter; do not assume that period applies to Team, Business, or Enterprise. The reviewed materials do not provide a complete retention table for every plan. Billing & Usage shows the retention value for your team, so check there rather than extrapolating from Starter.

| Plan | Included test results | Annual price | Bundled results | On-demand results |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter / Free | 500 per month | Free | Not stated | Not stated |

These are test-result allowances and rates, not screenshot-storage prices. The Starter FAQ also states a limit of 500 results per billing period and 10 users. Cypress’s pricing page describes Starter as 500 results per month; check the plan details shown to your organization for the applicable billing period and terms.
What to check before estimating your bill
- Open your organization’s Billing & Usage view. Confirm the plan, renewal date, data-retention period, included and bundled results, on-demand charges, and usage by project.
- Estimate recorded test-result volume. Compare expected usage with the plan’s included allowance and applicable bundled or on-demand rates. Do not add a separate screenshot-storage amount based on the reviewed pricing materials; they do not list one.
- Check seats and workflow requirements. User limits, support, and features can matter alongside result allowances and retention when comparing plans.
- Review capture and upload settings. Failure screenshots are captured by default during
cypress run. Video recording is disabled by default and can be enabled; teams can delete videos before upload.
Control which artifacts are captured or uploaded
Cypress provides screenshot blackout controls to hide selected page elements and an option to capture only the viewport or application rather than the runner interface. These controls can help limit what appears in screenshots. They do not change the plan’s retention period or create a separate screenshot-storage price.

If videos are not needed, leave video recording disabled. If it is enabled, Cypress allows teams to delete videos before upload. Review the configuration for each project and CI workflow so the artifacts sent to Cloud match what the team intends to retain and share.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use a separate website screenshot service when you need standalone captures
Cypress Cloud artifacts serve recorded test runs. If you instead need screenshots of live websites through an API or an MCP server for AI agents, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first: it removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots—not bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, or cache hits. It is a website screenshot service, not a substitute for Cypress Cloud’s test-result artifact storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cypress screenshot count as a test result?
Screenshots are associated with test results in Cypress Cloud. The published plan allowances described here are test-result allowances, not per-screenshot quotas.
Does turning off video recording stop failure screenshots?
No. Cypress documents failure screenshots as captured by default during `cypress run`; video recording is a separate setting and is disabled by default.
