SecurityWeek counted 25 cybersecurity-related mergers and acquisitions announced in July 2024. Its roundup, published August 2, includes eleven highlighted transactions and fourteen more named deals. The count covers announcements—not only acquisitions that had closed—so the status of each transaction matters.
What the July 2024 deal count includes
The figure of 25 is SecurityWeek’s tracker count and reflects its definition of cybersecurity-related M&A, not a universal census of every transaction in the industry. SecurityWeek also reported 178 cybersecurity M&A deals in the first half of 2024, describing that period as the least busy half year since it began tracking deals in 2021. Both figures and the comparison are specific to SecurityWeek’s tracker.
The roundup groups announced transactions with differing statuses: some were described as acquisitions, while others were agreements or intended acquisitions. The table below preserves the status SecurityWeek reported as of August 2, 2024. “Not reported” means the roundup did not specify a value or rationale.
