Start with the way you want to fight, then align your attributes, perks, weapons, and cyberware around it. In Cyberpunk 2077, Body favors hard-hitting close combat, Reflexes supports fast movement and several weapon families, and Intelligence powers netrunning and Smart weapons. Use CD Projekt RED’s Build Planner to check current perk prerequisites and try allocations before spending points in-game.
First, make sure your build advice matches Update 2.0
Update 2.0 overhauled the perk trees and connected systems. Perks now tend to unlock abilities rather than offer a long list of small damage bonuses, so older build guides may describe trees and synergies that no longer match the game. CD Projekt RED also moved most armor away from clothing and into cyberware, made cyberware capacity a limit on equipped implants, and tied implant bonuses to specific attributes. Smart weapons have dedicated perks, following a damage reduction in the update. See the Update 2.0 announcement for the redesign details.

Perk points can be refunded individually outside combat. When Update 2.0 launched, players continuing an existing save also received a one-time chance to reset attributes; that is not an unlimited attribute-respec option. CD Projekt RED’s advice at the time was to redistribute points to fit a preferred playstyle before continuing. If you are using an older save or guide, check what reset options your current game actually offers rather than assuming attributes can be freely reassigned.
Choose a combat loop before choosing numbers
Ask what you want to do repeatedly during a fight: close distance and hit hard, stay mobile and attack with blades or guns, or sequence quickhacks and support them with weapons. Those choices point toward different attribute and weapon synergies. They also affect cyberware: implants are part of the build, and capacity limits how many you can equip.

| Playstyle | Core action | Attribute and weapon direction | Build consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Close-quarters bruiser | Press enemies at short range with direct weapon damage. | Body supports shotguns, light machine guns, and blunt weapons. | Choose perks and cyberware that reinforce the close-range approach; capacity constrains equipped implants. |
| Mobile fighter or melee ninja | Use movement, evasion, and, in the official example, time dilation to attack. | Reflexes supports blades, assault rifles, and submachine guns; the official Bullet-Time Ninja example also invests in Technical Ability. | Coordinate the weapon, attributes, and cyberware rather than treating a Sandevistan or a blade as a complete build by itself. |
| Netrunner with weapon support | Sequence quickhacks, manage RAM, and keep fighting with weapons. | Intelligence supports netrunning and Smart weapons; the official example also connects its approach to SMGs. | Balance hacking with the weapon role you want, and check the current perk and cyberware details in the planner. |
The table is a starting map, not a universal ranking. Technical Ability and Cool complete the five-attribute framework, but their exact value depends on the perks and effects relevant to your intended build. The live official planner is the appropriate reference for current prerequisites and allocations; its displayed point budgets can change, so do not treat a planner view as a permanent game-wide allocation rule.
Match attributes and weapons to the way you fight
Body: direct force and close-range weapons
The Build Planner describes Body as raw physical power and fortitude. It improves shotguns, light machine guns, and blunt weapons, and supports actions such as force-opening doors and ripping turrets. Pick Body when those weapons and physical interactions are central to how you want to play, not merely because you want a general-purpose toughness stat.

- Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City
- Become a cyberpunk, an urban mercenary equipped with cybernetic enhancements and build your legend on the streets of Night City
- Take the riskiest job of your life and go after a prototype implant that is the key to immortality
Reflexes: mobility, blades, and fast gunplay
Reflexes is associated with maneuverability and evasion. It supports blades, assault rifles, and submachine guns, as well as advanced movement. A Reflexes-led build makes sense if you want to reposition frequently, fight with a blade, or build around those firearms.

Intelligence: hacking and Smart weapons
Intelligence is the netrunning attribute and also improves Smart weapons. It suits players who want quickhacks to shape encounters, or who want Smart weapons as part of a hacking-centered approach. The Update 2.0 perk redesign means weapon and hacking synergies should be checked against the current tree rather than copied from pre-update advice.

Technical Ability and Cool: choose for the specific build
Technical Ability and Cool round out the five attributes, but there is no single allocation that suits every playstyle. Check the planner for the current perk prerequisites and the effects relevant to the weapons, cyberware, and combat loop you have chosen instead of copying a generic spread.
Use official builds as patterns, not prescriptions
CD Projekt RED published example build breakdowns that show how attributes, perks, weapons, and cyberware can work together. They are useful illustrations of a playstyle, not proof that one setup is best for every character or difficulty.

Hack-&-Slash Netrunner: combine quickhacks with close fighting
The official Hack-&-Slash Netrunner breakdown invests heavily in Intelligence early, then links netrunning and RAM recovery with Smart weapons and SMGs. It discusses the Militech Paraline cyberdeck, the Recirculation perk, and quickhack combinations. The idea is useful if you want hacking to lead into active weapon combat rather than keeping the character at a distance. Check exact perk values and availability against the live planner and your game version.

Bullet-Time Ninja: build around time dilation and melee
The official Bullet-Time Ninja breakdown centers on Sandevistan and melee combat, with high investment in Reflexes and Technical Ability. It also emphasizes cyberware capacity and specific implant choices. Treat it as a coordinated mobility-and-melee package: the implants, attributes, and weapon choice all contribute to the approach.

Savage Slugger Solo: commit to close-range force
The official Savage Slugger Solo breakdown focuses on close-range weapons and supporting perks and cyberware. It names Rebecca’s shotgun Guts as one possible weapon example. That illustrates the style; it does not make Guts the right choice for every player.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Plan perks and cyberware as part of the same build
- Pick the action you want to repeat. Decide whether the build is primarily about quickhack sequencing, movement and melee, or close-range weapon pressure.
- Choose a weapon family that reinforces it. Use the attribute map to connect Body with shotguns, light machine guns, or blunt weapons; Reflexes with blades, assault rifles, or SMGs; and Intelligence with netrunning and Smart weapons.
- Use perks to unlock and strengthen that loop. Because Update 2.0 changed the perk trees, verify prerequisites and effects in the current planner rather than relying on an older guide’s point-by-point recipe.
- Fit cyberware to the plan and its capacity. Most armor now comes from cyberware, and cyberware capacity limits equipped implants. Attribute-linked implant bonuses make the attribute choices relevant to the gear plan too.
- Test the allocation before committing in-game. Use the Build Planner to experiment with attributes and perks. CD Projekt RED introduced it so players could explore builds without first committing in-game.
Which version and platforms does this advice cover?
This guidance concerns the post-2.0 build system. CD Projekt RED’s Update 2.3 information, published in 2025, lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Mac, and says Update 2.3 is free for owners of the base game. Its FAQ says people who do not own Cyberpunk 2077 must purchase it to access the update. These are statements from the official Update 2.3 patch notes and Update 2.3 FAQ; they are not a guarantee of current store inventory or a particular physical edition. Check the game and platform version you own when applying a build guide.
