Cybermes is an AI-connected offensive security framework for coordinating reconnaissance, security tools, evidence, and reports. A September 14, 2026 Hackers Arise walkthrough by Co11ateral describes using it against a local OWASP Juice Shop instance, reporting a confirmed IDOR/BOLA finding and checking JWT handling and SQL injection. Those results are the author’s account, not an independently reproduced test.
What Cybermes does
Cybermes supports two main workflows: a standalone command-line interface (CLI) and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes security tools and context to an external AI assistant. In the CLI workflow, users interact with Cybermes through its terminal interface; in the MCP workflow, an AI client invokes the available tools. The project describes both paths as supporting reconnaissance, security knowledge lookup, evidence handling, and report generation. Cybermes project documentation
The maintainers describe more than 200 offensive playbooks, integrations with reconnaissance and scanning tools, target-scoped evidence organization, and report export in Markdown, JSON, HTML, and PDF. They also document support for Windows, Linux, macOS, and Docker. These are project feature descriptions, not independent confirmation of a particular vulnerability detection rate, reliability level, or suitability for a specific engagement. What the Juice Shop walkthrough reports
The Hackers Arise article, dated September 14, 2026, walks through setup on Kali and uses OWASP Juice Shop at a local address as its target. The author describes installing Go and Cybermes, running setup and diagnostic scripts, configuring an OpenRouter API key, and defining the target in scope.yaml. The Kali procedure is one demonstrated route; Cybermes documentation also describes standalone CLI, Docker, and MCP installation options. Hackers Arise walkthrough Cybermes project documentation

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
IDOR/BOLA investigation
Using Cybermes’s terminal interface (TUI), the author investigated insecure direct object reference (IDOR), also called broken object level authorization (BOLA). The article says the test confirmed a BOLA issue and that reaching the result took fifteen minutes. That timing is a single walkthrough observation, not a general speed benchmark, and the reported finding has not been independently reproduced here. Hackers Arise walkthrough
JWT and SQL injection checks
The author then describes checking JSON Web Token (JWT) handling and SQL injection (SQLi) through Cybermes’s CLI. The article reports these as checks performed; it does not establish a separately verified outcome for either one. Hackers Arise walkthrough

Evidence and reports
The walkthrough says Cybermes produced report files and proof-of-concept material, and its author praises the report structure. This aligns with the project’s stated evidence organization and report formats, but the walkthrough’s assessment is an author observation rather than an independent evaluation of report completeness or accuracy. | Workflow | Interaction | Reasoning model | Useful when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standalone CLI | Work in Cybermes’s command-line and terminal interface. | The walkthrough configures an OpenRouter API key; exact model choices depend on the setup. | You want a terminal-centered workflow for configuring scope, running tasks, and reviewing evidence. |
| MCP server | An external AI assistant calls Cybermes tools through MCP. | The external AI client supplies the reasoning interaction. | You want Cybermes tools and context available from an MCP-compatible assistant or editor. |
The project documents both paths but does not provide a controlled comparison of their speed, accuracy, or effectiveness. Do not treat one as universally better on those measures. Cybermes project documentation

Set scope and authorization before testing
Only test systems for which you have explicit permission. The walkthrough uses a local Juice Shop target, and Cybermes documentation describes target-scope checks and isolated workspaces. Set the authorized target in the configuration for the workflow you choose, and keep testing within that boundary; a framework feature does not grant permission to probe a system. - Verify findings with appropriate manual review and evidence before treating them as confirmed.
- Playbook counts and capability descriptions come from the maintainers, not an independent audit.
- The walkthrough is useful as an example of a configured local lab, not as a guarantee of what Cybermes will find on another application.
