Webix forms use a view:"form" configuration to collect named control values, validate them, load records for editing, and submit data. The examples below cover those four workflows. They follow the official Webix form guides; check the version and edition installed in your project before using an API or widget.
1. Build a structured contact form
Declare a form with view:"form". Put controls in elements (or its rows alias), and use cols to arrange controls side by side. Give each field a unique name so form-level value methods can identify it.

});elementsConfig applies shared configuration to form controls; here, labels are positioned above their controls. Adjust the rows and columns to fit the screen and your application’s layout. getValues() returns a name-value object, for example { firstName: "…", email: "…" }. Use names only once within a form to avoid ambiguous lookups.
2. Validate required fields before continuing
Validation rules can be keyed by field name on the form, or attached to individual controls. Call the form’s validate() in the submit action and proceed only when it succeeds. Webix provides required and numeric checks; client-side checks improve feedback but do not replace validation on your server.

});For feedback while a user is entering a value, validation can also run on a control event such as blur or key input. Validate the whole form when submission depends on several fields; validating one control checks only that control. Choose the event based on the feedback you want rather than validating on every keystroke by default.
3. Load and edit a selected record
For a one-off edit, load an object with setValues(), let the user make changes, then read the result with getValues().

const editedRecord = form.getValues();When a form edits the current selection in a master component such as a list, bind the form to that component. Matching field names and data keys allow the selected item’s values to fill the form; after edits, call save() to push the changes back to the bound component. Use binding when the form’s purpose is to edit the selected master record, rather than managing that transfer yourself.
Take care with partial updates: Webix documents an optional update argument for setValues(). Without the appropriate update behavior, setting an object that omits some fields can clear other form values. Check the installed version’s documentation and choose the argument deliberately when preserving existing values matters.

4. Post form values to an endpoint
After validation, pass the form’s values to your application endpoint with webix.ajax().post(). Webix sends the values; your application must provide the endpoint and implement its server-side response and persistence behavior.

}Replace /api/registrations with a route your application actually serves, and adapt success and error handling to the response format and failure cases your server defines. The Webix guide also documents webix.send() as another way to send values; choose a submission method that matches the behavior your application needs.

Version and edition considerations
The Webix documentation landing page identified version 11.4 when referenced, but that does not establish that every form API shown here was introduced in that release. Confirm signatures and behavior against the documentation for the version in your project. The official getting-started material says complex solutions are in the Pro edition; check the edition requirement for any advanced widget or example before relying on its availability.
