A DEV Community listing frames this as a Swift and iOS debugging problem: CoreText reportedly measured 59 points, a Chinese caption needed 71, and an export described as successful produced a blank result. Those figures and symptoms come from the listing’s title, not an independently verified reproduction. The accessible listing does not establish the cause or fix.
What the report establishes—and what it does not
The DEV Community search result identifies the post as a debugging report tagged Swift, iOS, debugging, and testing, and displays a September 25 publication listing. Its title contrasts a 59-point CoreText measurement with a 71-point Chinese-caption requirement, then says the export “succeeded” while yielding blank output. The article body was not accessible, so the figures should be understood as reported in the title rather than confirmed measurements. DEV Community listing
The available account does not establish whether 59 and 71 refer to the same measurement, what font or attributed-string settings were used, which measurement API or layout configuration was involved, or what kind of export was attempted. It also does not identify the operating-system or SDK versions, root cause, reproduction steps, or resolution. Treating any particular CoreText behavior or export failure as the diagnosis would go beyond the published details that can be checked.
How to investigate a similar mismatch
The title alone is not enough to reproduce or diagnose the issue. A useful investigation records the layout and export conditions, then checks measurement and rendered output separately.

Record the layout inputs
- Capture the iOS version and SDK, the font family and size, and the full attributed-string attributes.
- Record the exact text, available width, line-breaking and paragraph settings, and whether the expected 71 points describes a line, a text block, or some other layout dimension.
- Identify the measurement API, its inputs, returned dimensions, and units. Do not assume two reported point values describe the same quantity unless their measurement contexts match.
Compare measured bounds with the rendered result
- Check the measurement result against the actual layout and drawing bounds under the same font, text, and constraints.
- Inspect the generated output itself, rather than treating a success indication as proof that visible content was written.
- Record the export type, destination, and any reported errors or warnings so the export path can be distinguished from the text-layout path.
Make the failure reproducible
Preserve a minimal example containing the exact text, font and attributed-string settings, measurement call, drawing or layout configuration, and export steps. Without those details, neither the 59-versus-71 contrast nor the blank output can be tied to a specific cause.
