To add a cookie banner in manual mode, open ⋯ → General settings, enable the cookie banner, adjust its appearance or language text if needed, and update or republish your site. The banner offers visitors choices to accept all, decline all, or select Analytics and Marketing categories.
Turn on the cookie banner
- In the manual-mode editor, click the ellipsis (⋯) in the left sidebar.
- Select General settings.
- Enable the cookie banner setting.
- Review the visitor consent choices and adjust the banner’s appearance or translations as needed.
- Click the site’s update or republish control to make the change appear online. The banner appears to visitors after republishing. See the manual-mode cookie-banner guide for current instructions.
What choices visitors get
The guide describes three visitor paths: accept all, decline all, or choose which listed tracking categories to allow. The selectable categories identified in the guide are Analytics (such as Hotjar) and Marketing (such as Meta Pixel). The feature is characterized as granular consent, meaning visitors can allow or block those categories independently.
How consent affects integrations
Integrations are loaded according to a visitor’s choice, including Amplitude tracking. When a visitor gives no consent, or when the banner is disabled, no tracking is loaded by default. This describes the stated manual-mode behavior; it is not a guarantee about every third-party script a site owner might add separately.
If you use AdSense or AdMob
Sites using Google AdSense or AdMob integrations require a certified, Google-compliant third-party cookie-consent solution. The builder displays a warning near those integrations. Do not assume enabling the built-in banner alone satisfies this separate requirement; the guide does not identify compatible providers.
Customize banner text for each language
For a multilingual site, open the site version in the language you want to edit, then change that language’s cookie-banner text in General settings. Review the wording in each language and republish the site so the updates appear online.
Check which cookies your site actually uses
Manual-mode sites do not use cookies by default; cookies depend on integrations the site owner connects. Examples include Google Analytics using _ga, Hotjar using _hjSessionUser_{site_id}, and Facebook Pixel using _fbp. These are examples, not a complete inventory for every site. Check the integrations configured on your own site rather than assuming this list covers it. See the manual-mode cookie guide for more detail.

Keep the banner separate from your privacy information
A consent banner is a configuration feature; it does not write or validate your site’s privacy disclosures. Legal-pages guidance describes adding a Privacy Policy page through the Pages and navigation panel and linking legal pages in the footer. Review and adapt any generated template for the actual site and its transactions.
