To complete The Unknown Resonant in Control Resonant, reach the Unknown Zone, finish Pope’s Research to activate Gravity Wells, and travel to the Field Office. From there, follow the Rangers’ distress call through the pattern and gate obstacles, then use the Field Office elevator to reach the Co-Director. Defeating the boss unlocks Command. This guide includes story and boss spoilers.
What you need before starting
- Reach the Unknown Zone: The story route identified for entry is Sever the Hedron Links.
- Complete Pope’s Research: Its Gravity Wells connect the Unknown’s floating islands and provide the cited route to the Field Office.
The Unknown Resonant is the fifth mission in the Defeating Resonants questline. The quest starts at the Unknown Zone’s Field Office when you answer the Rangers’ distress call. PowerPyx’s walkthrough and AllThingsHow’s location and walkthrough guide agree on the importance of Pope’s Research and the Gravity Wells.
AllThingsHow also names Shift and Reach as traversal abilities for the puzzle section. That requirement is guide-specific: PowerPyx does not list those abilities as prerequisites for the mission, so treat them as useful for the described route rather than a universally confirmed quest-unlock condition.

Walkthrough: Field Office to the Co-Director
Answer the Rangers’ distress call
Use the Gravity Wells to reach the Field Office island. When the call begins, defeat the enemies holding the Rangers, speak with them, and move forward with the group.

Jesse Faden walked into the Oldest House to confront the threat within. Now Dylan must walk out of it to contain the threat beyond.
Disrupt the moving pattern
At the pattern obstacle, watch the four moving booths or sheds and identify the one that is out of sync. Hit the outlier to disrupt the pattern. PowerPyx says to repeat this four times; AllThingsHow describes using Launch on the mismatched object. Follow the objective prompt if the number of repetitions or interaction differs in your game.
Open the gate and follow the power route
Continue through the hostile encounters to the gate sequence. The guides describe the electrical puzzle differently: PowerPyx says to carry electricity between power cubes to energize the gate, while AllThingsHow describes using Reach and Shift around the charge route. Inspect nearby power sources and follow the active objective marker; the exact traversal instructions are not consistent between the guides.
Take the rooftop bypass and clear the ambush
When the direct route is blocked, go through the building stairwells and across the rooftops toward the plaza. Clear the ambush there, then continue toward the Field Office. The guides differ on some intermediate route details but agree on the rooftop bypass and the ambush before the return.

Activate the Patterned Field Office fast-travel door, then use the elevator to proceed to the final encounter. Defeat the Resonant and complete the prompted finishing action; the mission ends when the kill objective clears.

Boss and quest rewards
The final boss is the Co-Director, identified as Arish in AllThingsHow’s account. Defeating the Resonant unlocks Command, an ability that can turn a charged enemy into an ally. PowerPyx lists the following rewards:

Do not count the Resonants outfit as a guaranteed reward for this mission. AllThingsHow describes it as conditional on defeating all Resonants, rather than a reward for this single boss fight. Its Co-Director walkthrough also corroborates the boss encounter and Command reward.
