For the best settings in CONTROL Resonant, choose your resolution and frame-rate target first, then start with Remedy’s matching profile. Its recommended non-ray-tracing target is 1440p at 60 FPS using Medium graphics and Balanced upscaling; its separate 1440p/60 ray-tracing target uses Medium ray tracing and calls for a substantially stronger GPU. These are targets, not guarantees: Remedy says matching a profile does not ensure identical performance in every area or on every configuration.
Choose your target before changing settings
Decide whether you want 1080p/30, 1440p/60, or 2160p/60, and whether ray tracing or path tracing matters to you. Compare your CPU, GPU and VRAM with the corresponding Remedy profile below. The table reflects Remedy’s published targets, not independent benchmarks or a promise of the same frame rate in every scene.

Remedy describes each profile as a specific performance target and cautions: “Meeting a profile does not guarantee identical performance in every area or hardware configuration.” For the full profile definitions, see Remedy’s official PC requirements.
Best starting settings by target
For 1440p at 60 FPS without ray tracing
Start with Medium graphics, Balanced upscaling and ray tracing off. Remedy lists the RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6700 XT and Intel Arc B580 in this recommended tier, with 8 GB VRAM and a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X. If your system is below that tier, the 1080p/30 Low profile is a more realistic starting point than simply turning every setting down while expecting 1440p/60.

For 1440p at 60 FPS with ray tracing
Use Medium graphics, Balanced upscaling and Medium ray tracing as the starting point. Remedy’s ray-tracing recommended profile lists an RTX 4070 Ti or RX 9070, 10 GB VRAM and the same CPU tier as its non-RT recommended profile. The graphics preset alone does not define the target; ray tracing moves it into a more demanding hardware category.
For 4K at 60 FPS
Without ray tracing, Remedy’s Enthusiast profile pairs High graphics and Performance upscaling with an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT. For the distinct path-tracing target, it lists High graphics, Performance upscaling and High ray tracing, with an RTX 5080. Do not treat the path-tracing profile as equivalent to ordinary 4K rendering.

For an entry-level 1080p target
Remedy’s minimum non-RT target pairs Low graphics with Quality upscaling and ray tracing off; it lists a GTX 1070, RX 5600 XT or Intel Arc A580. Its separate ray-tracing minimum still calls for Low graphics and Quality upscaling but adds Low ray tracing and lists an RTX 2060 SUPER, RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580. Use the non-RT profile if ray tracing is not important to your target.
How to tune settings if performance falls short
- Begin with the closest official profile. Set the graphics preset, upscaling mode and ray-tracing tier that match your target and GPU class.
- Reduce ray-tracing or path-tracing load if you need more headroom. Remedy lists separate, stronger GPU tiers for those features. This is a practical adjustment, not a guarantee of a fixed FPS gain.
- Then adjust the regular graphics preset if needed. In PC Gamer’s test by hardware writer Andy Edser, an RTX 5070 Ti system with a Ryzen 7 7700X and 32 GB DDR5 averaged 71 FPS on Ultra, 80 on High, 81 on Medium and 86 on Low at 1440p, with ray tracing High, DLSS Quality and Frame Generation off. Its corresponding 1% lows were 50, 57, 60 and 62 FPS. Those results describe that specific test setup, not expected performance on other PCs. PC Gamer found High and Medium close in that scenario; its visual comparisons are the outlet’s assessment, not a universal verdict. See PC Gamer’s test and settings comparison.
- Change one setting group at a time and reassess. Keep track of resolution, graphics preset, upscaler, ray-tracing tier and Frame Generation state, so you can tell which adjustment changed performance or image quality.
Upscaling, Frame Generation and supported features
Remedy lists NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 upscaling and Frame Generation, AMD FSR 4.1 upscaling and Frame Generation, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, ray tracing, path tracing, HDR, ultrawide displays and uncapped frame rate. Which options are available depends on your hardware and configuration; the official profile table should not be read as a comparison of every feature on every GPU.

Frame Generation was not used in Remedy’s published profile tests. It can therefore not be used to reinterpret those targets as Frame Generation results. When comparing frame-rate figures, note whether Frame Generation is on, along with the GPU, CPU, resolution, upscaler and ray-tracing tier. Generated frames also do not guarantee a stable experience or eliminate input latency.

Remedy lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB RAM and a 120 GB SSD across the PC profiles, and explicitly requires an SSD. Steam’s support listing also names the OS, RAM, 120 GB storage and SSD requirement. An SSD is an installation requirement; these sources do not establish that an SSD upgrade increases FPS. Check available capacity, physical form factor and interface before purchasing or installing a drive.

Before troubleshooting a settings problem, follow Remedy’s practical checks:

- Confirm that the PC meets the game’s final requirements and has enough SSD space for the game, updates and temporary files.
- Update graphics drivers using the normal process for your GPU, then restart the PC.
- Verify the game files in Steam or Epic if the installation may be damaged.
- Temporarily close overlays and other background utilities to check for software conflicts.
- Return CPU, GPU and memory overclocks or undervolts to default while diagnosing instability.
- Use Display Driver Uninstaller only as an advanced step if the GPU manufacturer’s clean-install process has not helped. Remedy advises creating a Windows restore point before using it; do not permanently disable antivirus or firewall protection.

What not to assume about “best” settings
- There is no single best preset for every PC: the sensible choice depends on resolution, frame-rate target, hardware and whether ray tracing or path tracing is a priority.
- A listed profile is a performance target, not a guarantee that every location or hardware setup will perform identically.
- Remedy’s profile figures are not Frame Generation benchmarks, because its published configuration tests did not use Frame Generation.
- Lowering a setting may improve performance, but the evidence here does not establish a universal per-setting FPS gain beyond the named PC Gamer test conditions.
