Stardock Connection Explorer is a Windows 11 utility that visualizes a PC’s network connections and helps tie activity to the applications and processes behind it. It can show active connections, endpoint details, upload and download activity, and—since version 1.20—activity from multiple linked PCs in a combined map. It can make background network activity easier to investigate, but a map or alert alone cannot establish that a connection is dangerous or that every kind of traffic is captured.

What Connection Explorer shows

Connection Explorer presents network activity as a visual map and provides tools to inspect individual connections. Stardock describes views that include the associated process or application, endpoint information, and upload and download activity. Search and examination tools can help narrow the view to connections or processes of interest. See Stardock’s Connection Explorer product page for the current feature description.

The practical value is attribution: instead of seeing network activity only as an abstract connection, a user can investigate which application or process is associated with it. The display is a starting point for understanding background activity, not a verdict about why a connection exists.

What features are documented

Stardock’s version 1.0 announcement, dated April 14, 2026, lists an activity timeline, per-application bandwidth monitoring, alerts, process blocking, DNS notes, and full connection history. These features support different kinds of investigation:

TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX21 V5)
  • DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
  • AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
  • Timeline and history: review activity over time rather than relying only on the current map.
  • Bandwidth monitoring: inspect upload and download activity by application.
  • Alerts: receive notifications about connection activity; the announcement does not specify every alert condition.
  • Process blocking: use a control to block a process, rather than merely observing its connections.
  • DNS notes: keep context about DNS-related activity while examining connections.

Stardock announced version 1.20 on August 19, 2026. Its headline addition is multi-device monitoring: users can link PCs and combine their activity in a map view. The announcement describes the capability, but does not establish further limits such as a maximum number of devices. Details are in Stardock’s version 1.20 announcement.

What the map can—and cannot—tell you

A connection or endpoint appearing in the interface means the utility is presenting it as network activity to inspect. It does not, by itself, prove that an application is leaking private information, behaving maliciously, or sending data to the location suggested by a map. Legitimate software may contact remote services for updates, synchronization, licensing, or other functions.

  • Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.
  • Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
  • Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
  • Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks

The product descriptions reviewed do not establish that Connection Explorer captures every protocol or every kind of network traffic, nor do they document the accuracy of endpoint geolocation, the application’s own data collection, or independent security-effectiveness testing. Treat map locations and alerts as investigative clues. To judge an unfamiliar process, verify its identity and publisher and consider whether its network activity fits the application’s expected purpose before taking action.

Windows requirement, versions, and price context

Stardock lists Windows 11 as the system requirement on its product page. The official version 1.0 announcement on April 14, 2026, said the product started at $19.99; that is a dated launch price, not a verified current quote. The product page lists a standalone annual subscription and an Object Desktop suite option. Check the live Stardock listing for current pricing and terms before subscribing.

When Connection Explorer may be useful

  • You want a visual way to inspect which applications or processes are associated with network connections.
  • You need to look at application-level bandwidth activity, connection history, or alerts.
  • You manage more than one Windows 11 PC and want their activity brought together in one map, using the multi-device feature announced in version 1.20.

If you need proof of malicious activity, a complete packet-level audit, or a documented guarantee about endpoint-location accuracy, the published feature descriptions do not establish that Connection Explorer provides those assurances.
