You can connect an iPhone to a Chromebook to share internet using the iPhone’s Wi-Fi Personal Hotspot. You can’t use Google’s Chromebook Phone Hub features with an iPhone, and Google says phones cannot pair directly with Chromebooks over Bluetooth. For photos and files, use a cloud service accessible from both devices; USB file access from an iPhone is not confirmed by the documentation cited here.

How do I connect my iPhone to my Chromebook?

It depends on what you want to do. The supported route for getting online is to connect the Chromebook to the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot over Wi-Fi. Phone Hub is Google’s Android integration, while Google’s Bluetooth guidance says a phone cannot pair directly with a Chromebook. For moving files, a cloud workflow is the dependable option unless you have confirmed that your particular iPhone and ChromeOS setup supports USB access.

Goal Best-supported option Important limit
Get the Chromebook online Join the iPhone’s Wi-Fi Personal Hotspot Uses the iPhone’s cellular data; hotspot availability and possible charges depend on your carrier and plan. Apple’s Personal Hotspot guide.
Use Phone Hub features Not documented for iPhone Google’s phone-connection instructions describe an Android setup. Google’s Chromebook phone-connection guide.
Pair the iPhone directly over Bluetooth Not supported as a phone-connection method in Google’s instructions Chromebooks can use Bluetooth accessories, but Google says phones cannot pair to a Chromebook this way. Google’s Bluetooth guidance.
Browse iPhone files over USB Not verified for iPhone-to-Chromebook transfer Google’s generic USB guidance does not confirm iPhone file browsing, and Apple’s cable instructions name Mac and Windows computers. Google’s USB guidance; Apple’s computer trust guidance.

How do I use my iPhone hotspot on my Chromebook?

Connect over Wi-Fi: enable Personal Hotspot on the iPhone, select its network on the Chromebook, and enter the password shown in iPhone settings.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. On the iPhone: Open Settings and tap Personal Hotspot. Depending on the iOS version or carrier setup, it may be under Cellular or Mobile Service. Turn on Allow Others to Join if that option appears, and note the Wi-Fi password.
  2. On the Chromebook: Select the time in the lower-right corner to open Quick Settings, then open the Wi-Fi network list.
  3. Select the iPhone’s hotspot name and enter the password displayed in Personal Hotspot settings.

Apple documents Wi-Fi hotspot connections for other Wi-Fi-capable devices. Personal Hotspot shares the iPhone’s cellular internet connection; it does not relay a Wi-Fi network the iPhone is already using. Check your mobile plan for hotspot limits or charges before relying on it. Apple’s hotspot instructions also describe Bluetooth and USB connections for Mac or Windows, but do not specifically verify those methods for Chromebook. Use Wi-Fi for this connection.

How do I transfer photos from an iPhone to a Chromebook?

Use a cloud service that you can access from both the iPhone and the Chromebook’s browser: upload the photos or documents from the iPhone, then open that service on the Chromebook and download or view them there. The exact upload steps depend on the service you choose.

Do not assume that plugging the iPhone into the Chromebook will make its photos appear in the Files app. Google lists mobile phones among possible USB-connected devices, but that general compatibility statement does not establish iPhone storage browsing or photo imports. Apple’s documented computer cable workflows name Mac and Windows. A Trust prompt on the iPhone is not proof that ChromeOS can access or import its content: Apple says trusted computers can access data such as photos, videos, and contacts, but does not confirm that this access works with Chromebooks. Google USB device guidance; Apple trust guidance.

Can I connect my iPhone to a Chromebook with Bluetooth?

Not as a direct phone-pairing method. Google’s Chromebook Help states, “Your phone can’t pair to your Chromebook with Bluetooth.” Chromebook Bluetooth is intended for compatible accessories such as keyboards, mice, speakers, and headsets—not for enabling iPhone Phone Hub features or transferring phone files. Can I use Chromebook Phone Hub with an iPhone?

Google’s documented Phone Hub setup is for connecting an Android phone through the Chromebook’s Connected devices settings and choosing available features. It does not document an iPhone setup path. The Android setup page lists ChromeOS 71 and Android 6 as minimums for that Android flow; those version requirements do not establish iPhone compatibility. Google’s phone-connection guide.
