Perplexity lists Comet as available for Windows 10 and Windows 11. If Comet will not install or open, start by confirming your Windows version and downloading the installer from the official Comet website: comet.perplexity.ai. Perplexity’s published guidance does not provide a specific Windows repair procedure for installation or launch failures, so the checks below are general Windows troubleshooting—not confirmed Comet fixes.
Check whether your Windows version is supported
Perplexity’s Comet Quick Start Guide states: “Comet is currently available for macOS (M1/M2 processors) and Windows (10/11).” That identifies Windows 10 and Windows 11 as supported platforms; it does not guarantee that every PC or configuration will work. You can also see Windows listed on Perplexity’s official Comet page.
If you are using an older Windows release, the cited Comet guidance does not list it as supported. Check your Windows version before trying additional installation steps.
Download Comet from the official source
The Quick Start Guide directs users to download Comet from comet.perplexity.ai and follow the standard installation procedure. Use that official site rather than a third-party installer mirror. The guide does not provide a more detailed Windows-specific installation sequence.

Identify where the problem occurs
Before changing settings or contacting support, note the stage at which Comet fails. This is practical diagnostic advice, not a vendor-published protocol.
- Download: Does the installer fail to download or does the download stop?
- Installation: Does Windows block the installer, show a prompt, or display an error?
- First launch: Does installation appear to finish, but Comet has no shortcut or will not start?
- After launch: Does Comet open and then close, or remain open with a visible error?
Record your Windows version and the exact wording of any error or security prompt. Those details help distinguish an installer problem from a launch problem.

Try basic checks for a Windows installation or launch failure
The following are general Windows troubleshooting checks. Perplexity’s reviewed Comet pages do not identify them as fixes for Comet specifically.

- Confirm the operating system: Verify that the PC runs Windows 10 or Windows 11, the versions listed in the Comet Quick Start Guide.
- Retry the official download: Get a fresh installer from comet.perplexity.ai if the download appears incomplete or the installer will not run.
- Restart Windows: After restarting, try the downloaded installer or open Comet again, depending on where the failure occurs.
- Note any prompt or error: If Windows displays a security prompt or an error message, record its exact text. Do not assume that bypassing a warning or changing a security setting is an approved Comet fix.
If these checks do not resolve the issue, stop short of deleting system files, changing the registry, adding firewall exceptions, or using compatibility settings: the cited official guidance does not recommend those steps for this problem.

Contact Comet support
The Comet Help Center includes a “Troubleshooting & Support” section. Its current landing page does not provide a Windows-specific remedy for a failed installation or launch.
If Comet opens, Perplexity’s getting-started page says you can report a problem through Menu → Share feedback. This is a way to report an issue, not a guaranteed recovery method. Include your Windows version, what you were doing when Comet failed, and the exact error text if one appeared. See the official Comet getting-started page for the feedback route.
