Cloudflare Secrets Store is an account-level service for managing sensitive values used by Cloudflare products. It was first announced in 2023, but the beta launched in 2025. Cloudflare’s overview, updated August 14, 2026, still labels it open beta and lists support for Workers and AI Gateway—not as a general-purpose secrets manager for arbitrary third-party services.
What Cloudflare Secrets Store is—and how the announcement evolved
Cloudflare first announced Secrets Store on May 18, 2023, describing a centralized place to manage sensitive values such as API tokens and authorization data across Cloudflare services. That announcement also discussed future ideas including audit logs and references to secrets in services such as WAF rules; those were announcement-era plans, not a complete account of the feature set available today. The beta launch followed on April 9, 2025. Cloudflare presented the service as a way to manage secrets centrally and separate who can administer them from who can view metadata or deploy them. Its launch announcement described three roles: Admins can create, update, and delete secrets; Reporters can view metadata; and Deployers can view metadata and deploy secrets, such as by binding them to a Worker. Those dates matter: the 2023 post announced the idea, while the 2025 post marked the beta launch. The current documentation describes the service as open beta and identifies the integrations available now.

Current status and supported products
Cloudflare’s overview, last updated August 14, 2026, lists Secrets Store as open beta, with account-level secrets compatible with Workers and AI Gateway. It says more product integrations are planned; that does not mean other integrations are already available. What administrators can access, and the beta limits
Cloudflare’s account-secrets documentation, last updated September 25, 2026, says a secret can hold a value such as an API token, public or private key, authorization key, password, or code variable. Each secret must be a string no larger than 65,536 bytes. After it is added, it cannot be decrypted or read through the API or dashboard; only the service associated with that secret can access it. The documentation does not establish pricing, account-plan eligibility, a comparative feature matrix against other secrets managers, detailed current audit-event coverage, or an independent security assessment. The product changelog says the beta supports management through the dashboard, API, and Wrangler, as well as binding account-level secrets to Workers. It also records role assignment and audit logs for actions taken in the Secrets Store core platform. In practical terms, the service centralizes values that Cloudflare-supported integrations need, while restricting access to the associated service rather than letting an administrator retrieve the stored value afterward through the dashboard or API. It is a Cloudflare account service used through Cloudflare’s tools and integrations, not a physical product or a universal vault for unrelated applications.
