CloudConvert does not publish a fixed, universal request quota specifically for HTML-to-PDF jobs. Its API documentation says job- and task-creation endpoints use dynamic rate limits. What CloudConvert’s rate limit means for HTML-to-PDF jobs
CloudConvert’s documentation describes dynamic rate limiting for API endpoints that create jobs and tasks. An HTML-to-PDF capture is submitted through the jobs/tasks API, using a capture-website task with output_format set to pdf. The documentation does not give that operation a separate published numerical allowance. CloudConvert’s API introduction and its capture-website operation reference describe these behaviors.
That means there is no supported universal answer to “How many HTML-to-PDF jobs can I create?” The example response in the API documentation shows X-RateLimit-Limit: 1000 and Retry-After: 60, but these are illustrative response values, not guaranteed quotas or wait times for every account.
How to recognize a throttled request
When CloudConvert blocks a request because a limit has been reached, the documented signal is HTTP 429 Too Many Requests. Inspect the response headers:

Read the actual headers from the response that failed. Do not hard-code either the sample limit of 1,000 or the sample 60-second delay as a general CloudConvert policy.
Submitting HTML-to-PDF work without blocking your application
A job can contain multiple tasks, such as input, conversion or capture, and output. Creating the job is a separate API action from processing it. CloudConvert documents both asynchronous job creation and a synchronous endpoint that waits for completion. For long-running work, the asynchronous approach avoids holding an application request open while conversion finishes. The jobs reference describes these choices.

Use a webhook for completion
CloudConvert recommends webhooks to notify your application when a job completes. This lets your application submit the job, return control, and handle the completion notification separately. The quickstart guide recommends webhooks; synchronous polling is an alternative when a webhook does not fit your workflow.
Use the documented capture operation
For a website-to-PDF job, configure the capture-website operation with the target URL and output_format set to pdf. Consult CloudConvert’s HTML-to-PDF API page and operation reference for the request schema and current authentication requirements. The rate-limit documentation does not establish a separate numerical quota for this operation.

What to do after a 429 response
- Record the status code and the
X-RateLimit-Limit,X-RateLimit-Remaining, andRetry-Afterheaders returned with that response. - Wait for the number of seconds specified by that response’s
Retry-Aftervalue before sending the next request. - Control how quickly your application submits job-creation and task-creation requests so it can respond to throttling rather than immediately repeating requests.
- For long-running jobs, prefer asynchronous creation with webhook completion handling instead of holding a client request open while waiting.
Do not conflate a 429 request-throttling response with a task that failed during processing. CloudConvert says it internally retries tasks when errors are retryable and asks users not to automatically retry tasks. Follow the 429 response’s retry timing for a rate-limited API request; do not apply an immediate task-retry loop. See the API introduction and retry guidance.
