Its AWS path covers static hosting, HTTPS, custom DNS, a visitor counter backed by an API and database, Python, testing, infrastructure as code, and deployment workflows. AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud paths are available; the service recommendations below apply specifically to the AWS instructions.
What the Cloud Resume Challenge asks you to build
The project turns a resume site into a portfolio of practical cloud work. You create a public, styled website, add a visitor counter, and demonstrate how its frontend and backend are hosted, tested, and deployed. The original challenge has 16 steps, ending with a short blog post about what you learned.
The official FAQ describes it as a hands-on bridge between cloud certification and cloud jobs, and says beginners and experienced professionals can attempt it. Treat it as a learning project and evidence of skills—not a promise of employment or a substitute for broader experience. The official FAQ also says projects can be submitted to the community for review.
How the AWS version is structured
The AWS instructions connect frontend work, backend programming, and cloud operations. Their suggested services are one way to meet the challenge outcomes; they are not universal requirements for the Azure or Google Cloud paths.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Challenge area | AWS implementation suggested by the guide |
|---|---|
| Resume site and delivery | Build the page with HTML and CSS, host it in Amazon S3, and use Amazon CloudFront for HTTPS. |
| Custom address | Configure DNS with Route 53 or another DNS provider. |
| Visitor counter | Use JavaScript in the site, an API Gateway endpoint, a Lambda function, and DynamoDB for counter data. |
| Backend code | Write the function in Python; the guide points to boto3 for AWS integration. |
| Tests and infrastructure | Test the backend and define infrastructure with AWS SAM. Terraform is explicitly allowed as an alternative. |
| Version control and deployment | Use source control and GitHub Actions for backend and frontend CI/CD workflows. |
These recommendations come from the official AWS challenge instructions. They describe a project architecture, not proof that a simple counter is production-ready.
Build the visitor counter with a safe service boundary
The AWS guide explicitly says the browser should call an API rather than connect directly to DynamoDB. In this design, JavaScript sends a request to API Gateway, which invokes Lambda; the function handles the database operation. This keeps database access in the backend instead of exposing it to browser code.

Keep AWS credentials out of source control. The guide warns against committing credentials to a repository; use an appropriate credential and permissions setup for local work and automated deployments rather than placing secrets in code or checked-in configuration. The challenge’s counter is a useful exercise in connecting services, but a visitor count alone does not establish security, analytics quality, or production readiness.
Choose a cloud path without assuming the implementations match
The general challenge page offers instructions for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The available sources establish that these provider-specific paths exist, but do not provide a complete feature-by-feature comparison of their services and tooling. Choose the path that best fits your learning goals or existing cloud access, then follow that provider’s own instructions rather than substituting AWS service names into another platform’s plan. The challenge overview links to the paths.

What you need before starting—and what is optional
The AWS sequence begins with the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification, then moves through the website, cloud architecture, code, tests, infrastructure, and deployment steps. The official FAQ says the core challenge steps are free; buying the guidebook is not required. The AWS page points to the AWS edition of The Cloud Resume Challenge Guidebook as an optional source of strategies and additional challenges.
If you want to extend the project after completing its core scope, the official Cloud Resume Challenge projects repository suggests areas including security, networking, data engineering, observability, automation and DevOps, Linux and containers, and programming for the cloud. These are extensions, not additional universal requirements of the original 16 steps.

Community and career expectations
The resources page reported “more than 12,000 cloud enthusiasts” in its community information when accessed in 2026; the page does not give a publication date for that count, so it should be read as a time-sensitive snapshot. It describes the Discord community as a place to ask questions, get code review, see cloud job postings, and talk with other participants. Details are on the official resources page.
The official landing page features Stephanie K’s testimonial: “The Cloud Resume Challenge was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” alongside a transition from bank branch manager to Associate Cloud Engineer in three months. That is one person’s account, not evidence of a typical result. Use the challenge to make your work visible and explain your decisions; do not treat completion as a hiring guarantee.
