Cisco has announced two new Nexus 9000 systems built around its Silicon One P200 and G300 chips, expanding its data-center switching lineup with fixed and modular hardware aimed at AI networking. Cisco also announced 28.8T modular line cards and 800G ZR/ZR+ coherent pluggable optics. The headline capacities and AI-networking benefits are Cisco’s claims; the announcement does not establish independent benchmark results.
What Cisco announced
Cisco’s 2026 announcement names two Nexus 9000 systems: the N9364E-SP2R-X, associated with Silicon One P200, and the N9364F-SG3, associated with Silicon One G300. Cisco says the expansion includes fixed and modular systems with flexible operating-system support. The announcement also covers 28.8T modular line cards and Cisco 800G ZR/ZR+ coherent pluggable optics. Cisco’s announcement describes the products and their intended role in AI networking.
What are the headline specifications?
Cisco reports 64 ports at 800Gb/1.6Tbps and total throughput figures of 51.2Tbps and 102.4Tbps across the new systems. These are vendor-published figures, not results from independent testing. The announcement-level information does not provide enough detail to confirm precise model-to-capacity mapping, configurations, or port breakout options; consult the current Cisco data sheets for those specifics.
| System or component | Silicon or stated capacity | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| N9364E-SP2R-X | Silicon One P200 | Cisco associates this model with P200; its exact configuration and capacity mapping should be checked in its current data sheet. |
| N9364F-SG3 | Silicon One G300 | Cisco associates this model with G300; its exact configuration and capacity mapping should be checked in its current data sheet. |
| New systems, collectively | 64 ports at 800Gb/1.6Tbps; 51.2Tbps and 102.4Tbps total throughput | Cisco’s announcement reports these headline figures, but does not establish independent test results or a complete model/configuration mapping. |
| Modular line cards | 28.8T | Cisco announced new 28.8T line cards; exact part numbers and compatibility require confirmation. |
| Coherent pluggable optics | 800G ZR/ZR+ | Cisco announced these optics; supported combinations and reach details require product documentation. |
Why Cisco is positioning the switches for AI networking
Cisco presents the new systems as high-capacity options for AI data-center networking, including scale-out and scale-across demands. Silicon One P200 and G300 are the chip associations Cisco gives for the two named Nexus models. Those intended uses and performance implications are Cisco’s product positioning; the available announcement does not provide comparative testing against other vendors or independent validation of performance.

How Nexus One fits into a Nexus environment
Cisco describes Nexus One as a common operating model intended to give operators a more consistent experience across fabrics managed through Nexus Dashboard. Its February 2026 overview discusses a broader portfolio spanning Cisco Silicon One and NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet switch silicon, as well as NX-OS, ACI, and open-source SONiC. That platform-level description does not mean every operating system or fabric combination is supported on each new model. Check model-specific support in Cisco’s Nexus One overview.
Cisco separately says its Nexus Hyperfabric option extends the common platform to on-premises, cloud-managed, and API-driven operating models, and lists NX-OS, ACI, and Nexus Hyperfabric in that context. This is a distinct cloud-managed option, not proof that every N9000 model supports every mode. Cisco’s Nexus Hyperfabric announcement provides that platform context.
What buyers should compare before choosing a model
The headline port and throughput claims alone are not enough to determine which switch fits a deployment. Compare the following against current model documentation and the requirements of the target fabric:
- Capacity and ports: Confirm the usable port speeds, port density, breakout choices, and exact capacity for the intended configuration.
- Form factor and infrastructure: Check fixed versus modular chassis requirements, cooling, power draw, thermal limits, and rack space.
- Traffic behavior: Validate buffer and traffic-handling characteristics against the workload rather than inferring them from aggregate throughput.
- Software and fabric: Confirm the supported NOS, fabric mode, software features, and any licensing or support entitlements for the exact model.
- Components: Verify line-card, optic, and cabling compatibility, including the exact part numbers and supported combinations.
- Procurement: Check exact ordering SKUs, orderability, regional availability, pricing, support terms, and seller authorization with Cisco or an authorized channel.
Availability and evidence limits
The announcement establishes that Cisco announced these products, but it does not settle ordering dates, regional availability, reseller inventory, street pricing, or complete compatibility details. Those points can change and should be confirmed against current Cisco product pages and authorized channels before a purchase. No hands-on test or independent benchmark is asserted here.
