The Chuzelblad is a playful miniature camera, not a pocket-sized Hasselblad or a substitute for a dependable everyday camera. The name comes from reviewer John Wade, who used it for Chuzhao’s Vintage 64MP Retro Digital Camera because of its compact, cubic shape. His review found it enjoyable and capable of crisp prints around A4 size in suitable light, but its small sensor, exposure quirks and bright-sunlight screen make it best suited to novelty use or a collection.
What is the Chuzelblad?
“Chuzelblad” is a reviewer’s nickname, not the camera’s official model name and not a Hasselblad product. The product is sold as the Chuzhao Vintage 64MP Retro Digital Camera. Its compact, square body, pop-up screen hood and gold-colored fittings give it a retro-camera look; reported color options are black, red, green and grey. These details come from John Wade’s September 2026 review in Amateur Photographer.
The product’s “64MP” wording needs context. Wade reports an 8MP, 1/3.2-inch sensor that produces 12MP image files. The 64MP figure is part of the product’s marketing name, not the sensor resolution reported in the review.

How well does it take photos?
Where it works
Wade reports that the camera performs well in bright conditions and is easy to hold steady despite having no image stabilization. With suitable lighting, it can produce crisp prints up to about A4 size, according to his review. That makes it more convincing as a fun camera for casual photographs than its marketing resolution might suggest.
Where it struggles
In high-contrast scenes with large light and dark areas, the metering can be confused, resulting in over- or under-exposure. The small screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight, and Wade describes the zoom handle as flimsy. The 16× zoom is digital, so it should not be mistaken for an optical zoom system.

Wade’s succinct verdict is: “You won’t buy a Chuzelblad as your only camera.” He also calls it “A delightful little digital camera about two-thirds the size of the real thing.” Both are his review judgments, not manufacturer claims.

Amateur Photographer listed the camera at £35.99 on Amazon when its review appeared in 2026 and warned that prices could vary widely on Amazon and eBay. That is a dated publication-time observation, not a current quote. Check the live total, seller and return terms before ordering; the review’s positive assessment is specifically about a novelty camera, not a replacement for a more capable camera.

How it differs from a smaller novelty camera
The Kodak Charmera is a different kind of novelty camera: Digital Camera World describes it as a small keychain camera styled after an old 110 film camera, sold in blind-box packaging that leaves the design unknown until purchase. The Chuzelblad, by contrast, is the larger cubic camera with a pop-up hood. The Charmera is worth considering only if keychain-sized portability matters more to you than the Chuzelblad’s retro miniature-camera shape. The Charmera details are from Digital Camera World, and should not be confused with specifications for the Chuzelblad.
