What a full-page scrolling screenshot captures
A normal screenshot records only the part of a page visible in the browser window. A full-page screenshot captures content beyond that viewport, so you can save an entire webpage without manually scrolling and stitching together multiple images. The GoFullPage Chrome Web Store listing reported 11,000,000 users and 4.9 stars from 84.2K ratings when accessed in 2026. Those are changing store figures, not independent measures of capture quality; the listing says ratings are updated daily and may not reflect the newest reviews. Its change log lists version 8.9, dated 2026-09-24, with a fix for Chromium 153’s new URL requirement and improved dialogs. Treat version and availability as time-sensitive.
Choose by the job, not just the name
- Need the entire document? Start with a whole-page capture option. If the page’s content sits in an inner scrollable panel, look for an explicit scrolling-area workflow.
- Need a single tall image or a PDF? GoFullPage and FireShot both describe image and PDF output. If a PDF must be printed, compare the available page layouts before choosing a format.
- Need to edit immediately? FireShot’s listing specifically describes crop, resize, annotation and blur controls.
- Expect lazy-loaded content or sticky elements? GoFullPage’s separate listing describes features intended for those cases, but this is a vendor feature claim, not a guarantee for every site.
- Capturing a PDF document itself? GoFullPage’s FAQ says it cannot access PDF documents for capture. Use the document’s own download or print-to-PDF option instead.
How to capture a full webpage with GoFullPage
- Open the target webpage in Chrome and let the initial content finish loading. If the page loads more content as you scroll, allow that to happen during capture rather than assuming the first screen contains the entire page.
- Start the capture by clicking the GoFullPage extension icon or pressing Alt+Shift+P, as its listing describes.
- Wait for the extension to finish scrolling and capturing. Its stated workflow opens the result in a screenshot tab.
- Save the result in the offered image or PDF format. The listings describe PNG/JPG image options and PDF export, though the available controls can depend on the current version.
GoFullPage’s listing says it captures the current page “in entirety and reliably—without requesting any extra permissions!” This is the extension listing’s product claim, not an independently verified guarantee. The vendor also says its extension supports inner scrollable elements and embedded iframes; confirm the actual result on the page you need.

How to capture a page or scrolling area with FireShot
- Open the page in Chrome and identify whether you need the whole document or a specific scrolling region.
- Choose the whole-page or scrolling-area capture workflow described in FireShot’s Chrome Web Store listing.
- After capture, select an export option such as PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP or PDF, or use the listing’s described clipboard option.
- If needed, use its described editing controls to crop, resize, annotate or blur before saving.
These steps reflect the vendor-authored listing rather than a live test. The listing also asserts that screenshot work is done instantly and stored locally, and that permissions are unnecessary. Those statements are not a substitute for reviewing the current extension permissions and privacy disclosures yourself.
When full-page captures are incomplete
Custom scrolling and embedded content
Some sites use custom JavaScript to manage scrolling rather than the browser’s ordinary document scroll. GoFullPage’s FAQ identifies this as a possible failure case. If a capture stops early, skips content or produces an unexpected layout, try the site’s own print or export feature, or capture the relevant region separately with a scrolling-area tool. PDF documents
GoFullPage’s FAQ says it cannot access PDF documents for capture. If the target is a PDF open in Chrome, use the PDF viewer’s download or print controls, or obtain the original PDF file. A webpage that embeds a PDF may behave differently from an ordinary HTML page, so check the result rather than treating the embed as a standard page.
Lazy-loaded content and sticky elements
Pages may load images or sections only when they approach the viewport, and fixed headers can appear repeatedly or cover content during scrolling. GoFullPage’s separate listing describes support for lazy-loaded content and sticky elements, but its general FAQ also warns about unusual custom scrolling. If content is missing, let it load, try again, and inspect the entire output. The store feature description does not establish compatibility with every lazy-loading implementation.
Installation status and permissions
On 2026-08-11, GoFullPage’s vendor posted an update about Chrome access, the official version being restored and a temporary beta listing. Because that status can change, use the vendor’s update and the Chrome Web Store’s current listing rather than relying on an old install link. Review permissions and privacy statements on the listing for either extension; the product descriptions alone do not establish universal safety or privacy.
