Helio G99 leads the cited aggregate AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6 results, while Snapdragon 685 has the higher listed maximum CPU clock and Qualcomm platform features. Both are 4G chipsets. Those results do not come from a controlled test of identical phones, so the better buy depends on the exact handset as well as its processor.
Snapdragon 685 vs Helio G99 specifications
The two chipsets differ in CPU configuration, graphics, wireless capabilities, and some listed platform specifications. Manufacturer specifications describe what a platform can support; they do not guarantee that every phone using it includes every feature.

What the benchmark comparison shows
NanoReview’s comparison page, accessed in 2026, reports higher Helio G99 scores in all three listed results. These are aggregate reported figures, not results from a matched test in identical phones.

The AnTuTu sample counts are reported by NanoReview; the page does not establish an identical device, firmware, or testing procedure for the two chipsets. Benchmark versions matter: AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6 scores should not be compared as though they came from a single controlled experiment, or mixed with scores from other benchmark versions. Geekbench’s mobile listing includes examples such as a Redmi Note 12 4G with Snapdragon 685 and a Redmi Note 14 4G with a Helio G99-family chip. Which is better: Snapdragon 685 or Helio G99?
On the cited aggregate benchmark results, the Helio G99 is ahead in AnTuTu 11 and Geekbench 6. That does not prove it will be faster in every phone or workload: the figures have unequal sample counts and are not from a controlled same-phone comparison. Snapdragon 685’s listed maximum CPU clock of 2.8 GHz is higher, but clock speed alone does not establish better overall performance.

Both platforms can support capable midrange phones, but chipset names alone do not establish how smoothly a particular model will run. Cooling, firmware, memory, game settings, display resolution, and sustained workload all affect real performance. The GPU designs also differ: Adreno 610 on Snapdragon 685 and Mali-G57 MC2 on Helio G99. The cited aggregate figures are not a substitute for testing a specific phone in the apps or games you use.

Battery life
Neither chipset comparison establishes which phone will last longer on a charge. Battery capacity, screen size and refresh rate, software, radio conditions, and device-level power management all influence runtime. Compare battery specifications and independent testing for the exact handset rather than inferring battery life from a processor label.

Qualcomm and MediaTek list these as 4G platforms and do not list 5G support for them. The exact LTE bands, VoLTE support, and carrier compatibility depend on the phone variant and market. Check the manufacturer’s specifications and your carrier’s compatibility information before buying, especially if you are importing a phone. What to compare before choosing a phone
Use the processor comparison as one input, then compare complete phone models available in your region. Check:

- Price and availability: Compare the same storage configuration and local warranty, not just the advertised starting price.
- RAM and storage: Confirm the actual memory configuration and storage type for the model variant.
- Display: Compare panel type, resolution, brightness, and refresh rate; a higher refresh rate can also affect battery use.
- Cooling and sustained performance: Look for device-specific gaming or stress-test results, since heat management can change performance over time.
- Battery and charging: Check capacity and charging support on the exact phone.
- Software support: Compare the manufacturer’s update policy and the phone’s current software condition.
- Cameras: Sensor specifications and image processing are handset-level choices, not settled by the chipset comparison.
- Network compatibility: Verify LTE bands, VoLTE, and carrier support for the precise regional variant.
Qualcomm’s statement about a near 15% CPU performance improvement is a comparison with the previous generation, not a claim that Snapdragon 685 is 15% faster than Helio G99. It should not be used as a head-to-head result. Qualcomm’s product page.
