If your PlayStation account seems locked, the cause could be a password or passkey problem, a missing two-step verification code, a compromised account, or a formal suspension. Start with the exact error message and check the inbox—including spam—for the email address linked to your account. PlayStation says a suspension produces an error code at sign-in and usually comes with an email stating the reason and duration.
First, work out what “locked” means in your case
“Locked” is not a specific PlayStation account status. The sign-in screen, error code, and any message from PlayStation help distinguish a credentials problem from a suspension or a connection issue.

PlayStation says suspended users see an error code when they attempt to sign in, and that it usually emails the reason and duration to the account’s sign-in email. If you see a suspension error, check the email’s junk or spam folder and My Support. If there is no notification, contact PlayStation Support.
If you can access your account email, recover your sign-in
For a forgotten password or unusable passkey, go to Account Management and choose “Trouble Signing In?” Follow the prompts to recover the account or reset the password, then use the secure link PlayStation sends by email. The reset email may take a few minutes to arrive.

If the sign-in details look right and there is no suspension indication, PlayStation also recommends checking that you are using the correct sign-in email, updating your console’s system software, and restarting the console and router. You can try signing in through Account Management online; a wired connection may help rule out a wireless connection problem.
If your two-step verification code is missing
- Request the code again and check that your phone can receive messages. Restart the phone, make sure airplane mode is off, and check mobile signal and network conditions.
- If you previously saved a backup code, enter one. PlayStation provides ten single-use backup codes for two-step verification recovery.
- If you cannot use the registered phone and do not have a backup code, contact PlayStation through the Online Assistant.
If your email or account details have changed
If you cannot access the email address on the account, do not recognize a sign-in ID or online ID change, or suspect someone changed your password, use the PlayStation Online Assistant. These situations need account recovery support rather than repeated password attempts. Do not share your password or verification codes with anyone claiming they can unlock the account.

If PlayStation says your account or console is suspended
A suspension is different from a forgotten password. An account suspension blocks sign-in and account features; a communication suspension restricts social features; and a console suspension restricts that console’s access to PlayStation services. Suspensions may be temporary or permanent. Check the notice sent to the account email and My Support to identify the type and duration.

If you see WS-37368-7 or WS-116367-4
PlayStation associates either error with a suspension after a financial institution reverses a charge for one or more purchases. Read its account-debt suspension guidance and follow the repayment process to restore access. If the reversed payment was unauthorized, use PlayStation’s unauthorized-transaction guidance instead.
