Customer-service, sales, and ecommerce chatbots work best when they do more than produce generic answers: they connect a customer’s question to current business information, complete a bounded task, and hand off the conversation when a person is needed. A documented example is Tiendas CUADRA’s Asistente CUADRA, which answers questions about orders, products, promotions, stores, and availability, and can escalate complex requests with a conversation summary.
What makes a useful chatbot example?
A chatbot example is most useful when it shows a complete customer journey: what the customer asks, what information the bot needs, what it can do, and what happens if it cannot resolve the request. For a retailer, a bot answering “What are your hours?” needs only accurate store information. A bot answering “Where is my order?” needs a secure way to retrieve order details. A bot recommending an item needs current catalog information—and, for availability questions, inventory data.
These examples are patterns to adapt, not proof that a chatbot will automatically increase revenue or satisfaction. Microsoft’s CUADRA case and LivePerson’s retailer case are vendor-published accounts of particular deployments; their reported results should not be treated as general benchmarks.
Customer support chatbot examples
Order status and shipment tracking
A customer types, “Track my order.” The bot asks for or securely identifies the order, retrieves its current status from the ecommerce or order-management system, and explains the latest shipment information. If it cannot find the order or the customer has a delivery problem that needs investigation, it can pass the case to a support agent with the relevant conversation context.

Tiendas CUADRA’s Asistente CUADRA supports order-status and shipment-tracking questions. Microsoft describes the assistant as connected to ecommerce and customer-service systems so it can retrieve order information rather than relying only on generic FAQ text. Microsoft’s CUADRA customer story and the Microsoft Learn case study describe this implementation.
Product, catalog, and promotion questions
A shopper asks whether a product has a particular feature, what an item costs, or whether a promotion applies. A useful bot retrieves answers from the current catalog and promotion information, then links or guides the shopper to the relevant product or offer. If the underlying product information is outdated or incomplete, a confident-sounding response can still be wrong; product guidance should therefore be grounded in business-controlled information.
CUADRA’s assistant answers questions about catalog items and promotions using product and website knowledge sources. This is a practical support pattern when customers need an answer before deciding whether to contact an agent.

Store location and product availability
A customer asks where to buy an item or whether a particular size is available nearby. The bot can return a store location or availability by size and location, if those details are accessible from connected business systems. The answer should give the shopper a useful next action, such as identifying a store, rather than stopping at a generic statement that the product exists.

Some requests cannot be handled safely or completely through automation. In CUADRA’s documented workflow, a complex request can be escalated by creating a customer-service case that includes a summary of the conversation. That approach helps an agent pick up the issue without making the customer restate everything. The bot’s job is not simply to deflect contacts; it can gather context and route the work to a person.
Sales chatbot examples
Lead discovery and qualification
A prospective customer asks about a service or product. The bot can ask a short sequence of relevant questions—such as the person’s needs, timing, or intended use—and pass the answers to a human adviser. LivePerson describes this pattern as automated lead collection and qualification followed by tailored recommendations from human advisers. That is a vendor’s description of a sales approach, not independent evidence that every qualification bot improves conversion.

Conversational product guidance
A shopper asks which product fits a particular need. The bot can clarify the need, use accurate catalog details to narrow options, and explain why an item may fit. CUADRA’s published implementation plan moves from answering questions toward recommendations and, eventually, completing sales in the conversational channel. The distinction matters: the case documents existing information and service workflows, while recommendations and transactions are described as planned next phases.
Human-assisted selling
A bot can identify what a prospect is asking for and route the discussion to a sales representative, or support an agent by supplying relevant information. LivePerson describes automated intent identification alongside routing to a person or an agent-facing bot. This illustrates a division of work: automation handles initial discovery or context gathering, while a person can take over where judgment or a tailored conversation is valuable.

Pre-purchase product discovery
A shopper asks about specifications, promotions, product differences, or availability. The bot can answer from the catalog and connected inventory information, then help the shopper locate a product. Recommendations are most useful when the bot has reliable product data; without it, the experience risks steering a customer toward an unsuitable or unavailable item.

Post-purchase order and returns help
After checkout, common bot workflows include tracking a shipment, providing order updates, and explaining return or exchange steps. Shopify’s retail guide covers these ecommerce and retail use cases, while CUADRA provides a named implementation for order lookup and tracking. A bot should distinguish between explaining a policy and resolving an exception that requires review by a person.
Messaging-led shopping and support
A customer can explore products, ask questions, purchase, and request support through a messaging conversation. LivePerson’s bridal-retailer case describes this type of messaging-led experience. The vendor reports that the retailer involved 300 sales managers on messaging, saw messaging volume rise 7.5 times, and reported a 700% increase in sales via messaging. These are results attributed to one vendor-published retailer case, not a forecast or industry-wide chatbot result.
What the CUADRA case demonstrates
CUADRA’s Asistente CUADRA is a concrete example of support automation tied to business systems rather than an isolated question-answering widget. Microsoft describes workflows for order status and shipment tracking, catalog and promotion questions, store information, and product availability by size and location. The case also describes integration with ecommerce and customer-service systems and escalation through a service case with a conversation summary.

Microsoft Learn reports CUADRA-specific measures: customer satisfaction of approximately 3.9 to 5.0 on a five-point scale, answer quality of approximately 57% to 95.5%, and hundreds of automated cases created each week. The page does not state a publication year for those figures. They describe this deployment and should not be read as typical results for other organizations.
Diego Olvera, Director of Information Technology at Tiendas CUADRA, explained the need for continuous availability: “We needed to be available 24/7. Customers want to know where their order is, if a product is in stock, or where they can buy it—at any moment. Before, all of that depended on people answering phones, emails, or chat messages.” The case illustrates the operational goal: answer routine questions at the time customers ask them, while keeping a path to customer service for issues that need further help.

How to choose a chatbot pattern for your business
- Start with the customer’s task. Choose one recurring, bounded job—such as tracking an order, answering a product question, qualifying an enquiry, or locating a store—rather than trying to automate every conversation at once.
- Identify the information the answer depends on. A tracking bot needs order data; an availability bot needs stock information by location; a product-guidance bot needs a reliable catalog. A bot that cannot retrieve the necessary information should not imply that it has checked it.
- Define the point for human involvement. Set out what the bot can complete and what should be escalated. Carry the customer’s details and a conversation summary into the handoff where possible, as in CUADRA’s case-creation workflow.
- Measure the outcome tied to the task. For support, relevant measures can include answer quality, customer satisfaction, response time, and case volume. For sales, measure outcomes connected to qualification or completed sales. Report results with the deployment and measurement context; a result from one vendor case is not a general expectation.
- Expand only when the underlying workflow is ready. An FAQ response, a live order lookup, a personalized recommendation, and a completed sale are different capabilities. CUADRA’s published phases distinguish current information workflows from planned recommendations and conversational transactions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are common chatbot examples for customer support?
Common support patterns include order tracking, product and promotion answers, store-location and availability lookup, and routing a complex issue to an agent with its conversation context. CUADRA’s assistant is a documented example covering these types of questions.
Can a chatbot help customers buy products?
Yes. A chatbot can answer product questions, guide discovery, and—in a messaging-led workflow—support shopping and sales conversations. Recommendations depend on accurate catalog information. CUADRA’s published plan describes recommendations and conversational sales as next steps rather than established features in the documented workflows.
Should a chatbot handle every customer question?
No. A bot is better suited to defined tasks with dependable information behind them. For exceptions, complex requests, or cases where the bot cannot complete the task, escalation to a person should preserve useful context.
Are the chatbot results in these case studies typical?
No. The figures described here are attributed to CUADRA’s deployment or to one retailer’s LivePerson case. They are case-specific vendor-published results, not industry benchmarks or guaranteed outcomes.
