To change the typing language on a Xiaomi phone using Gboard, open Settings > Additional settings > Languages & input > Manage keyboards > Gboard > Languages > Add keyboard. Choose a language and its preferred layout, then tap Done. To switch between languages while typing, tap the keyboard’s switch icon.
Add a language to Gboard from Settings
- Open Settings and go to Additional settings.
- Tap Languages & input (some versions label this Language & input), then Manage keyboards.
- Choose Gboard, then tap Languages.
- Tap Add keyboard and search for the language you want.
- Select the layout that suits you, then tap Done.
Xiaomi documents this route for the REDMI Note 13 5G. Menu labels and paths may differ by model, region, and software release. Xiaomi’s REDMI Note 13 5G instructions provide the device-specific steps.
Add a language from the open keyboard
If Gboard is already open, tap its settings icon, choose Languages, then add the language and layout. This shortcut avoids navigating through the phone’s Settings app. Xiaomi documents this option for the REDMI Note 13 5G.

Open a text field to display Gboard, then tap the keyboard’s switch icon to move between the layouts you added. Xiaomi also notes that, on the documented device, Gboard may identify and switch languages based on what you type. Do not assume that behavior is available on every Xiaomi model or keyboard version. If Gboard is missing or is not the active keyboard
- Go to Settings > Additional settings > Languages & input > Manage keyboards.
- Enable Gboard (also labeled G-board on some Xiaomi support pages).
- Return to Settings and open Current keyboard, then select the input method you want to use.
Xiaomi support pages show these steps for particular devices, including the Xiaomi 14T Pro; your menu names may vary. Xiaomi’s Gboard setup instructions, keyboard management guidance, and Xiaomi 14T Pro current-keyboard instructions document the options.

Look in Settings for keyboard or Languages & input. Keep the distinction between a typing language and its layout in mind: first choose the language, then choose one of the layouts offered for it. Xiaomi advises checking that the selected input method supports your preferred languages and works with the apps you use. For an exact path, consult the support page for your Xiaomi model.
