If a Castr stream is not starting on YouTube in India, first check the channel’s YouTube live-stream eligibility, then identify whether the feed stops before Castr preview or at the YouTube destination. The available official guidance does not establish an India-specific block on sending an encoder stream through Castr to YouTube, so do not assume geography is the cause.
1. Check whether YouTube allows the channel to go live
YouTube—not Castr—controls a channel’s eligibility. YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. It also says the creator must be at least 16. Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio under Channel → Feature eligibility, and review the official YouTube live-streaming guide and feature-access guide.
- If YouTube shows that verification is incomplete, complete the channel verification process before retrying.
- If the channel has a live-streaming restriction, resolve or wait out that restriction; changing Castr’s region or reconnecting Castr cannot remove a YouTube restriction.
- Confirm that the account meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement for live streaming.
2. Make sure you are applying the right eligibility rules
YouTube’s requirement of at least 50 subscribers applies to live streaming from the YouTube mobile app. The mobile route also requires verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and live streaming to be enabled; first activation can take up to 24 hours. Those mobile-app requirements should not automatically be treated as requirements for a Castr encoder workflow. Check the actual channel’s feature status in Studio and consult YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements.

Castr receives a source feed first, then sends it to the YouTube destination. These are separate stages, so where the stream disappears helps narrow the cause.

Castr’s source and destination setup guide recommends choosing a hosting region near the broadcaster for better ingest quality. That is an ingest-quality consideration, not evidence that YouTube account eligibility depends on the Castr region.
4. Check the YouTube destination connection
Castr supports connecting YouTube through an account/API connection or configuring the destination manually with a server URL and stream key. Follow the method you originally selected in Castr’s YouTube connection guide.

- Confirm that the YouTube destination shown in Castr is the intended channel.
- If using a server URL and key, compare them with the active stream’s details in YouTube Studio. Make sure both belong to the same active stream.
- Keep the YouTube Studio live page open and use its Go Live action when that workflow requires it. Sending a feed to Castr does not necessarily complete YouTube’s separate start step.
- If the connection still fails, Castr recommends removing and reconnecting the YouTube destination. For a key-based setup, generate a new YouTube stream key and update the destination.
Never share or publish your stream key. Anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.

A short test can establish whether the feed reaches Castr before you troubleshoot YouTube. Castr’s pre-broadcast test guide recommends a stable wired connection for testing.

- Send the encoder feed to Castr with destinations turned off, then check whether the feed appears in preview and inspect the input health.
- If the preview is missing, investigate the encoder output and the connection from the broadcaster to Castr. Choosing a nearby Castr hosting region may help ingest quality, but it will not correct YouTube account eligibility.
- If preview works, run a private or unlisted test to YouTube. Check the destination status and the YouTube Studio live page for a reported error or a required start action.
- Change one thing at a time—source/network, destination connection, or account setup—so the result shows which stage is failing.
6. Investigate audio only when the error points there
Castr’s audio requirements documentation, dated March 18, 2026, says social destinations such as YouTube may reject a feed without an audio track. If YouTube or Castr reports an audio-related error for a video-only source, check whether the encoder is sending an audio track; Castr notes that a silent track can be a workaround. This is a stream-format issue, not evidence of an India-region restriction.
Common failure patterns and fixes
- YouTube says the channel cannot stream: Check verification, age, and recent live-streaming restrictions in YouTube Studio. Castr cannot override a YouTube restriction.
- The mobile subscriber threshold seems to be blocking Castr: The 50-subscriber requirement is documented for the YouTube mobile-app route. Check the channel’s actual feature eligibility rather than applying that threshold automatically to an encoder-based Castr setup.
- Castr preview is blank: Check whether the encoder is sending a feed and whether it reaches Castr. Test the source connection and input health before changing YouTube credentials.
- Castr preview works but YouTube stays offline: Check the selected channel, destination connection, active stream URL and key if applicable, and whether YouTube Studio requires you to select Go Live.
- The destination connection keeps failing: Reconnect the YouTube destination in Castr; for key-based setup, generate a new YouTube key and replace the old one.
- The platform reports missing audio: Verify the encoder’s audio track and follow Castr’s audio guidance for the reported error.
- The stream is unstable during testing: Castr recommends testing with a stable wired connection. That can help isolate a wireless-network problem, but it cannot fix an account restriction or an incorrect key.
Does being in India prevent Castr from starting a YouTube stream?
The cited YouTube and Castr guidance does not establish a country-specific prohibition on using Castr to send an encoder stream to YouTube from India. YouTube’s India-locale feature-access page covers feature eligibility and verification, while Castr’s region guidance concerns ingest quality. If the feed reaches Castr preview but YouTube does not start, focus on the destination setup, YouTube Studio start steps, and the channel’s eligibility—not an assumed India block. The evidence does not support using a VPN as a fix.
