If you want a regular YouTube video or playlist to repeat while you watch, use YouTube’s built-in loop control; you do not need Castr or Gyre. If you want prerecorded videos to run continuously as a public live broadcast, Castr and Gyre offer cloud-based tools for that job. Choose between them by comparing stream capacity, resolution, storage, playlist and scheduling features, and destination platforms—not by assuming a loop will automatically bring more viewers or revenue.
First, decide what “looping on YouTube” means
There are two different workflows:
- Repeat playback for yourself: YouTube can repeat a video or playlist during playback. This is a viewer-side control; it does not create a live stream.
- Broadcast prerecorded video as live: A cloud service such as Castr or Gyre sends uploaded footage to YouTube as a continuous live broadcast. Viewers watch a live stream, not an ordinary video being repeated in the YouTube player.
YouTube Help describes the first option directly: “When watching YouTube, you can play a video or playlist on repeat by looping it.” If you only need personal replay, start with YouTube’s own control rather than paying for a streaming service.
Castr vs Gyre: the practical differences
Both services offer cloud workflows for sending prerecorded video to a live destination. The comparison below reflects each vendor’s published feature and pricing information checked on October 3, 2026; plans and prices can change. These are vendor descriptions, not results from independent testing.

| Decision point | Castr | Gyre |
|---|---|---|
| Core workflow | Upload prerecorded video, then schedule a premiere or loop a playlist as a live broadcast. Castr also describes multistream delivery and a website player. | Upload files, organize a playlist, connect YouTube, and run the playlist continuously from the cloud. |
| Continuous looping | Castr lists Infinite Loop on Premium and Ultra, not Starter or Standard. The published Premium price is $199.99 monthly or $166.67 per month billed annually. | The pricing page describes 24/7 duration across its listed tiers. It shows monthly prices of $49 for Start, $99 for Start+, and $169 for PRO+. Confirm the billing period and current terms at checkout. |
| Concurrent prerecorded streams | Published limits are 1 on Starter and Standard, 2 on Premium, and 3 on Ultra. | The seven-day trial and Start list one HD stream; Start+ lists up to four HD or one 4K stream; PRO+ lists up to eight HD or two 4K streams. |
| Playlists and scheduling | Castr describes playlist looping and a separate scheduled-start mode. File duration, file count, and storage limits depend on plan. | The pricing page marks playlist and scheduler features as included with the trial, Start+, and PRO+, but not Start. |
| Destinations listed by the vendor | YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, custom RTMP destinations, and a website player. | YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, X, Kick, and MixCloud. |
| Trial details | A seven-day Starter trial is listed; advanced looping requires a qualifying tier. | A seven-day trial is listed with one HD stream and 20 GB storage. The pricing page shows a watermark for the trial. |
When Castr may fit better
Castr may suit a creator who wants prerecorded loops alongside a broader live-video workflow. Its product information also covers multistreaming, hosting, and a website player, while its pricing matrix makes storage, bandwidth, file duration, and concurrent stream limits relevant plan constraints. Check the exact plan limits against your files and destinations before choosing: the continuous Infinite Loop mode is not listed on Starter or Standard.

When Gyre may fit better
Gyre’s plan page foregrounds the number of concurrent streams and the HD-versus-4K combinations available at each level. That makes it easier to compare if your main question is how many simultaneous loop streams you need. Its listed playlist and scheduler availability varies by plan, and the trial has fewer capabilities than the higher paid tiers, so verify that your intended workflow is available before relying on the trial.
How to choose the right service
- Confirm the workflow. If you only want to replay content as a viewer, use YouTube’s repeat control. If you need a public live broadcast made from prerecorded footage, compare cloud streaming services.
- Count simultaneous streams. Match the number of channels or broadcasts you intend to run to the published concurrent-stream limit, rather than choosing a tier based on a hoped-for audience size.
- Set a resolution target. Compare the HD and 4K capacity shown for the specific plan. Do not assume a plan’s stream count applies equally at every resolution.
- Check content and storage constraints. For Castr, review the applicable storage, bandwidth, file-duration, and file-count limits. For Gyre, check included storage and the plan’s playlist and scheduler features.
- Confirm destinations. Check that the platforms you actually need are listed for the service and plan. A broader destination list is useful only if it matches your distribution needs.
- Use a trial to validate the workflow. Account for the trial’s stream limit, storage, feature access, and—in Gyre’s case—the watermark shown on its pricing page.
Neither a higher stream count nor continuous availability establishes that a channel will gain views, qualify for monetization, or grow faster. Those outcomes are not guaranteed by the published feature and pricing information.
